Largo
So there I was, in the middle of an awesome run in my favorite Halo map, kicking serious newb butt with the shot gun and RPG... Ah, this is the life I thought as I snuck up behind someone ready to beat their head with Extreme prejudice. Then it happened.... I got sent back to windows! WHY! I didn't even see what caused it, as I scrambled back into Halo... But it was too late. I was dead... Oh the humanity!!!!!! My run was over...my spirit squashed... I was about to declare eternal war with whatever caused this thing. I almost calmly exited Halo to see my enemy. And there it was... A download Window from a site I never had even heard of... OUTWAR.COM! MAH!!!! Now this may not seem like a big deal... But they come up all the bloody time! Every 4 minutes it comes up! Why?! Even now! Wow! Another one! It hasen't stopped! Try doing Baal runs in Diablo? Not a chance in Hell! AVP? you'll be dead quicker than you can say "Get away from her, you..." Does anyone else have this plague like me? Am I alone? Look one more! YAY! If this doesn't stop, I will do something drastic....Like write a letter or something... A very EVIL letter. Wooo, that was a good release of angry energy... UberBender
or you could run Popup Blocker. I think it might work when you're not running the web. or you might want to delete your cookies.
Slaiv
Or you could......*ahem* persuade *ahem*.... the Outwar staff to take their site offline forever. As well as every other site like that! [A.K.A. Shogun War, etc...] Just a note to Dark0ne if he reads this: I think OutWar should become an unsayable word. ;)
Largo
Thank god I'm not alone in this crusade against these unscrupulous and downright evil people. First I think I will download Spybot, then I will march over to their servers and introduce them to a very large axe. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it... Slaiv
Ad-Aware works for adware and spyware, as well as other harmful shtuff. I haven't tried Spybot, but you should probably try both, just to make sure your system's been cleansed of this evil.
Largo
Ohh, this is starting to feel like a witch hunt. I've never felt more like a puritan in my entire life. I can see their thinking now about burning and hanging all those faux-magic users. I say we get out the gallows and pyres! unleash the torches and Frankenstein rakes! Um, well I think my computer has been cleared of all corruption, demonic and otherwise... I really hope I didn't delete some important file... Ah well, Alea Jacta Est
Zmid
In my experience, having a decent firewall, decent anti-virus and Spybot and running the antivirus and Spybot regularly keeps your PC clean and clear. As Ad-aware is free, however, it might be an idea to get that as well to be sure. Be aware that sometimes Ad-aware picks up the definition files of Spybot as spyware and vice versa, though. By the way, just in case you don't know them, here are the links for Spybot and Ad-aware: SpybotAdaware As for Outwar, if you need another axe-swinger.... :P
