nrot
[Edit] Please disregard. I just saw another thread mention it was an update for the HD Res pack. Apologies for the duplicate thread. In the process of running BOSS for the umpteeth time to make sure I have my mods in order, steam starts to download an 'update' to Skyrim when I log in to access BOSS (I'm using Mod Organizer and it requires Steam login for BOSS). I'm already running patch 1.8.151.0.7 and have since I downloaded Skyrim a couple weeks ago. I've paused the update process and tried to look here on the Nexus, Bethesda, and Google for information on a new patch but do not see any announced. I currently do not have Dragonborn, so I know that cannot be the reason (although I do have Dawnguard and Hearthfire if that matters). I didn't ask Steam to verify game cache (I know 'updates' will happen if you do this after cleaning up Hearthfire/Dawnguard .esms with TES5edit, which I've done). I did have automatic updates enabled in Steam (a mistake on my part, I didn't realize it was enabled. I've since disabled it). I'm not very experienced with using Steam, is there a way I can find out exactly what this 'update' is supposed to be before it's downloaded and installed? My other question is, now that Steam already started the download and I paused it after some data was transferred, is there a chance of game corruption if I do not allow it to finish? Are game files typically overwritten as they are downloaded, or does Steam wait until the entire download is complete, and then overwrite files? Has anyone else today experienced this behavior from Steam, and knows what this update entails? Thanks in advance for assistance. [Edit] I forgot to mention that I know synchronizing game saves through the cloud may be the cause, but in the past I'm pretty sure that the message I got was 'synchronizing' and not 'updating'. Perhaps I'm mistaken on this however. Edited February 7, 2013 by nrot
AnimeOtaku102
According to another thread it's an updated HD textures. Includes fixes for the HD textures plus new ones for the DLCs. I'm not quite sure how the Steam updater behaves though, I believe it does download the updated files to a temporary directory then applies them when it's done, but don't take my word for it.
