  1. Hello, having a frustrating time with my Skyrim mod pack I'm hoping someone will know how to fix... I have the Skyrim Anniversary Edition installed through Steam. However, no store content appears in my current playthrough of the game (25+ hours in). Specifically, I have progressed to where I should be able to purchase the Homestead Tundra, but the dialog option does not appear (I am Thane of Whiterun and have already purchased Breezehome). Further, I have traveled to the exact spot where the player home should be and it is not there. Other Anniversary Edition content (such as fishing, survival mechanics, etc.) do appear in game and I have the golden Atkatosh symbol confirming I indeed have Anniversary Edition installed. I have already made a Bethesda.net account and have confirmed that all store content is purchased and installed when running Skyrim through the Steam executable on a new playthrough. It is only via MO2 that the content does not appear. I also made sure I have all the options for all anniversary edition and store content enabled in the Mod Organizer 2 mod list. I'm not getting any error messages, CTD, or any other abnormal behavior related to this, only that the content doesn't appear in game. It's my first playthrough of AE, so that is why I didn't notice the missing store content until now. I have already attempted to receive support via the Discord servers for Pheonix Flavor and Wabbajack, but unfortunately, I either am hot-potatoed somewhere else, or they refuse to assist with store content. So I'm hoping someone here may know what is going on. Thanks in advance.
  2. *spoilers for main quest to follow* I'm many hours into my first full play-through, and have been focused on advancing guild storylines and exploring. I'm still not finished doing so, but on a lark I went to talk to Caius (first meeting) and upon giving him the package and accepting to follow his orders, his very first order was to go to a camp (I can't remember the too-long-to-pronounce-name) and to find out if I fullfill the Neverene prophency. Just from having experimented with partial play-throughs in the past, I know this is not the first assignment Caius is supposed to give (which is talking to a Balmora fighter's guild member, then heading to a Dwemer ruin). I have no idea what is causing this to happen and can't find any reference to this on the usep.net wiki. Does anyone here know what may be causing something like this to happen? Would it be safe to find the quest ID number and forcibly revert the quest to an earlier stage, or is that likely to bork my playthrough somehow? Thanks in advance for any insight.
  3. I never found a solution to the problem, however I did find a workaround. Its not the desired way to handle the situation but I tried every avenue to no avail (I actually read someplace that in my situation it might be impossible to resolve), so the only way I found to get OBSE to work with MO2 is to purchase a second copy of Oblivion at GOG.com Not kidding, if what I read is true (I don't have a link unfortunately, it was a week ago now) OBSE simply won't work if you're using a Steam and MO2 combination (presumably due to the DRM layer that Steam imployes). I bought a GOG copy and started over and it works fine now. That's the only suggestion I can give, unfortunately.
  4. By the time I had made this post I had already read those instructions multiple times. My specific issue is not addressed in the instructions you linked.
  5. I've been trying to install Better Cities and am following the installation guide(s). I'm following the OMOD install method using TES Mod Manager (the FAQ says OBMM doesn't work for Better Cities due to size limitations in the original OMOD file structure). The guide I'm following is located here (linked from the Read Me document included in Better Cities): http://wiki.theassimilationlab.com/bettercities/index.php?title=OMOD_Install After I make all the selections to the pop-up boxes during OMOD creation (again, following the choices in the guide) I am met with this error message: "An error occurred while creating the omod file.Specified argument was out of the range of valid valuesParameter name: Offset" I have tried googling what this means and how to fix it and nothing about this message is linked to Oblivion or modding according to my searches (all results seem to come from general programming errors). The FAQ and guides I'm following do not reference this error at all, so they unfortunately are of no help at the moment. I did ensure to select the OMOD v2 option, and I have attempted the process multiple times, all with the same error. Has anyone encountered this error before and know what it means and how to fix it?
  6. The advertismnent like "in your face" nature of the suggestion is a bit over the top and would need to be toned down to not have an app store feel. However, so long as it could be tweaked to not be intrusive, I support this idea. It would be helpful if we could see how many have/are donating to the mod and how much its currently generating and generated overall in the past. This way, each potential donator can decide for themselves if the mod author is being fairly compensated for their work. If no, then they may be compelled to donate. If they are already fairly or even generously compensated for their work in the users' eyes, they can withhold the donation for another deserving mod/author that isn't getting the recongizion they deserve. It would also be helpful if we knew how much each mod author was receiving across all their mod projects on the Nexus. New users wanting to help the community might want to donate money to a mod that simply adds a new type of spoon to Skyrim because they feel bad the mod has so far received nothing at all... meanwhile they didn't realize the same author also has a mod in the all time TOP 10 and is raking in thousands, or is doing quite well over on the Fallout or Dragon Age portion of the site. Clearly, Valve and Bethseda can't and won't do this thing right. We need to be the change we want to see.
  7. Actually, RRF & EBT are both independent mods from one another. Although RRF does come recommended by dDefinder1 in the EBT description, as he created both mods. According to the author, RRF modifies the existing skeleton .nif files, although I do not see any mention of needing another mod's custom skeletons to be installed for RRF to work properly. Is this what you were referring to, something like XP32 Maximum Skeleton? If so, I've never used such a mod. In your example, when you say you changed the skeleton, do you mean you simply deleted the mod with the custom skeleton and let RRF modify the vanilla skeletons, or you started using a new custom skeleton and RRF modified that one instead? When it comes to script lag and FF I wasn't able to locate what the name of this monitor might be, I tried a ctrl+f for 'lag' with no results and nothing else labeled I saw seems to fit. It has the 'monitor' scripts I mentioned earlier, but they don't seem to be related to tracking lag of other FF scripts. I never used the FF patch to move the quivers to the belt, so I don't think that came into play in my particular setup. In the end however, I decided it wasn't worth all the headaches and have gotten rid of Frostfall for the time being. Also, yup Ripple is very knowledgeable and has already helped me more than once.
  8. There wasn't a problem related to Frostfall installation, I was able to have run the mod and benefit from its features. The issue I'm trying to address is the random CTDs. I would have to disagree and say papyrus entries can indeed be related to random CTDs, or at least they can provide clues as to what may be causing the problem. Script heavy mods can tax the game engine and cause random CTDs, and given my logs, that is where the evidence currently seems to lead. Its certainly not a perfect method however, which is why I was hoping there might be evidence of something missing or misconfigured that I did not notice. The RCRN message you see was a lightning style option for Lanterns of Skyrim (I liked the glow in the pics). I am not currently running RCRN or any other lightning mods. That fact made it clear to me that I shouldn't have choosen that lighting option, and have since replaced it. I'm not sure what you were referring to as far things not showing up in the BOSS log, the only utilities I'm running besides BOSS and SKSE are Mod Organizer, Wrye Bash, and a Skyproc. I'm not using any sort of graphical injector, optimizer, ENB, or anything like that. Thank you for your thoughts though, it did point out to me that I did not make the best selection for Lanterns of Skyrim. So that is one potential issue resolved.
  9. Sorry for the long post, I tried to be as succinct as I could. Been at this off and on now for a long time, trying to start a new campaign with a CTD free setup. Lots of reading, a couple reinstalls, tons of testing, and so on. I thought I had what should be a pretty stable mod build, until during testing on a new game, I ran into a CTD after 1.5 hours of playing and found several hundred KB worth of papyrus errors. The bulk of those errors are coming from something called "DE_Compatbility.psc" and "de_ep_monitor". Although I can't find a definitive authority anywhere I look (descriptions, readmes, google, etc), I believe these 2 scripts are related to Frostfall, and the most likely suspect in my CTDs. I tried disabling Frostfall and playing, and sure enough the errors go away. I really like Frostfall however, so if by chance I'm wrong, or there is something I can do to get rid of these errors (or vastly reduce their frequency) while keeping the mod, that would be great. I know papyrus isn't the perfect tool to determine the cause of CTD's, but its the best I have to work with. I realize this is a lot of information being thrown into a post, and if someone doesn't feel compelled to sift through it all, I understand. I'm just frustrated and at the limits of what I can figure out on my own, any help is appreciated. Here is random portion of papyrus errors related to this (I can get ~100 pages worth of similar errors per hour of gameplay): Here is my BOSS report: I manually moved my bashed patch and reproccer to the bottom of the load order, since BOSS likes to move all unrecognized plugins below them. I've only made modifications to my INI files which are recommended by the latest STEP guide, and haven't done anything crazy like changing ugrids. So, with that information in mind... do you think dropping Frostfall is the only fix to my CTD problem? My hope is that there is some simple oversight, some minor change, some patch or setting I may have overlooked, that would make everything play nice together (although I'm not holding my breath). I've already removed many of the mods I used to have in my load order, and do not plan on dropping any more unless one is pin pointed as being the cause of major issues (as I believe Frostfall is). Please do not worry about suggesting reverting to an older save, or cleaning my current if you believe it is corrupted. It is already a new playthrough and only for testing. I'll be starting a new game when all CTDs/errors have been resolved as best they can. Thanks for any help you can provide.
  10. Edit - Just saw your edit. Joe, don't just uninstall mods. That leads to orphaned scripts and possibly a corrupted save that will be very difficult to salvage. Instead, just disable them 1 at a time and run the game. Only uninstall if you are certain you have found the offending mod or mods. Actually, even once you have found the offending mod or mods, it is better to see if there is an update, compatibility patch, setting to modify, or other workaround to try before uninstalling, due to the aforementioned reason. No problem, Joe. I had several folks help me when I was new and had loads of questions, just paying it forward. Moving on, it looks like you are needing a compatibility patch with Smithing Overhaul. I'd start off by following that link BOSS provides for it and see if things improve. Also, make sure Smithing Overhaul, and Immersive Weapons are compatibile with Dragonborn (I know some mods have yet to update) and be sure you grabbed the correct version for Dragonborn. Also, try reading the comment section of those mods to see if anyone else has reported your issue and if it was resolved. I'm drawing attention to these 2 in particular, because to the best of my knowledge, they both modify weapon attributes. Let me know if that helps your situation. A few other points that may not be related to your current issue, but are important nonetheless. - It is *highly* recommended you clean your Bethseda ESM files with TES5edit (all except for Skyrim.esm, that one needs to be left alone). An in-depth tutorial on how to do this is given by Gopher, and can be found here: - The Skyrim game engine is very sensitive to certain types of mods, which can lead to instability much quicker than others. Chief among those are mods that add large numbers spawn points to the game, games that modify specific scripts that Skyrim doesn't seem to like being toyed with, and games that are not updated to be compatible with the latest DLC and game patches. For these reasons, I would consider dropping WarZones and SkyTEST on your next play through (they both add enormous numbers of spawn points, SkyTEST modifies a specific script concerning AI behavior that sometimes causes issues, and WarZones hasn't been updated in a very long time). Even though I have hardware that can easily handle both mods, I eventually removed them because the tend to accelerate save file entropy. However, don't get rid of them if you aren't planning on starting a new game, as that will result in orphaned scripts and can lead to even more problems. This is more just FYI for now. Lastly, were there any unrecognized mods that appeared in a different section of the BOSS report? If so, please post those mods as well.
  11. Some other info I forgot to mention in case it is relevant: - During the first download, Steam hard froze on me and I needed to reboot my PC - After reboot, download continued but 3 files were not validated. - After re-downloading those 3 files, every time afterwards, it was 1 file invalidated - I had previously altered Skyrim's graphics profile using Nvidia inspector (I have since reverted to default settings, nothing changed) - My install path in my previous installation was C:\ProgramFiles(86) - Someone else suggested to me that it may have something to do with Steam's CEG (Custom Executable Generation) for SteamWorks games. I doubt this since I did not encounter this in the past, and tested it on another Steam game, which didn't have any invalidated files. Thought it might be worth mentioning however. I've been looking through some of the Steam FAQs and whatnot, so far haven't found an answer. Has anyone else experienced this?
  12. SkyUI doesn't sort or affect in-game items in any way, it is limited to menu customization only. It is very unlikely to be the cause of the issue. When I mention 'sorting mod' it is a mod that specifically renames, or moves items around (via leveled lists). One of the most well known examples is here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/2730 However, adjusting the stats on weapons (their damage, enchantments, weight, etc.) can also be related. Overhaul mods such as SkyRE often modify these attributes to rebalance the game. If you have a combination of overhaul and/or sorting mods, they can step on each other toes and you can get weirdness like what you are experiencing (item duplication in crafting menus is another common occurrence are you seeing that as well?) If you post your BOSS report, it will be easier to help you track down the culprit (be sure to use
  13. I could be wrong, but it seems to me like that may be a bug or conflict related to a sorting mod. Just to be clear, it does appear like the weapon(s) are actually dealing the correct amount of damage in combat, just that the listed amounts in the menu screen incorrectly state the weapon damage is zero, correct?
  14. I downloaded & installed Skyrim+DG/HF/HD-DLC through Steam and when I try to verify cache, I keep getting an error that 1 file failed to validate. I've tried the following: - Completely exiting Steam and logging back in - Rebooting my PC, - Verifying the game cache (multiple times) - Completely uninstalling Skyrim (including clearing out the registry entries with CCleaner) , then downloading and installing Skyrim again. - My install path is C:\Steam I am not running any mods or utilities at this point, it is a completely vanilla install. Skyrim will start through steam without any obvious issues, but I am worried this invalidated file may cause problems in the future. Does anyone know how I can find out which file Steam is referring to (the message does not inform me), and how to get Steam to correctly validate this file?
  15. Awesome, looks like that was the problem, not seeing that error reported anymore. Got another I've seen in the past in case anyone knows which mod(s) might be in play. The nature of the errors seem to suggest its a leveled list issue. I've googled it and not really turning up anything useful yet. Anyone familiar with this particular error and what might be causing it? Here is my BOSS list if anyone is willing to take a look for me, I'm aware there are a couple mods with dirty edits I haven't cleaned yet (only one mod existed with a dirty edit prior to seeing this error show up in my logs, which is "water plants.esp")
  16. I do use a profile manager for testing (Mod Organizer). The problem is, I am in fact encountering this problem even with that utility running. MO was just updated a few hours ago however, so I will update it and see if that makes a difference (my gut feeling is it isn't related, but I'm sure it won't hurt to update). Flexcreator's game save cleaning tutorial is an interesting one, and I've been tracking it since he uploaded it. However, that wouldn't really address what I'm after here as I want to discover the root of this problem, and not merely address the symptoms, so I can hopefully avoid it in the future. I wasn't really clear on your second point, it seemed like you were saying that some mods can indeed permanently corrupt a quest chain, even after they are removed, and on a fresh game. Did I understand correctly? Edit: I think I figured it out. I removed the mod in the mod list of MO, the ESP (if there was one), and I believe I deleted it under the downloads tab, but that didn't remove the BSA file which is still there and loaded. I thought getting rid of it in one area would apply to all categories, apparently that isn't the case. Going to test to see if I am correct.
  17. By chance, did you at one time have this mod installed? http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6703 If you did and are using an old save, perhaps its a orphaned script from that mod that is still running. If not, it may be a leveled lists issue that Wrye Bash may be able to illuminate. If its neither of those, then I'm not sure what might be causing it.
  18. @Korun I am running several test characters, and often create new ones for testing mods before I dive into playing a full game in the hopes I can avoid issues. This error does seem to be causing CTD's, as all my test characters experiencing CTD's lately have this error littered all over the place (and always just before a CTD), which motivated me to get rid of the aforementioned mod. However, when that didn't resolve the issue, I tried on a fresh save with no mods. Yet, the this error persists and that is worrisome to me. It seems indicative of a larger issue I haven't yet identified and really doesn't even make any sense to me unless skyrim.esm is corrupted somehow. I just want to see if others here agree with my line of thinking, or if perhaps there is something else I'm not noticing or taking into consideration.
  19. Hi there, I'm going to ask you a bunch of questions you will likely get anyway that may help others in assisting you: - Have you made sure you have also installed the patches that go with some of those mods? Such as the SkyRE and Frostfall compatibility patch? - Are you using a mod manager, if so, which one and which version? - Are you using BOSS to sort your load order? If not, you need to start using it, its pretty much an essential tool for assisting in the sorting of mods. If you do already use BOSS, please post your load order again by directly pasting what BOSS messages are. - You may have more than 1 mod that modifies leveled lists, if so, using Wrye Bash to create a bashed patch can be a big help. - Have you tried verifying your game cache through Steam? - Do you have the latest version of SKSE? Are you running the game through SKSE? Mods on your list (and most popular mods in general) require SKSE In most cases, when a modded Skyrim crashes immediately when trying to play, it's because a required master file (ESM files, usually) is not loaded. Essentially, that means mod X requires mod Y or file Z in order to run, if it isn't there, Skyrim doesn't know what to do and will CTD every time. If anything I asked you or mentioned made no sense, just ask and I or someone else will clarify for you. You can find BOSS here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/6 SKSE here: http://skse.silverlock.org/ and Wyre Bash here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/1840
  20. I'm scratching my head trying to make sense of how these errors could be littered all over my papyrus logs. I had a Dark Brotherhood mod (http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25941) which I assumed was the cause of these errors (or the console commands I used to jump the quest chain ahead to test it), but I have completely removed the mod from my hard drive. I also disabled all my mods and started a new save and checked my logs just after entering the tower in Helgen. I had ~60KB worth of plain text of nothing but this error repeating itself, aside from errors related to the carriage ride. I'm planning to verify my game cache and re-clean my .ESM files with TES5edit, and I'm guessing that is the best course of action to take at this point. But, is this in any way normal, can mods (and/or console commands) cause the ESMs to become corrupted like this? Another strange behavior I encountered was during the tutorial/intro, was that the race menu never appeared... the guy with the list just addressed me as a fellow Nord, and a default male Nord I was. ...Any ideas?
  21. Edit: Disregard, I was able to force my way in. I was also stupid and didn't realize there way already a guide to accomplish what I was trying to do. This is sort of a mod question, but contains spoilers, so I figured this is the appropriate place for it. I'm wanting to test this mod http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/25941 to make sure it will run without problems in my setup. I have no current saves to jump ahead and don't want to progress through the entire Dark Brotherhood quest chain just to verify it works. I need access to the Dawnstar Sanctuary in order to do this and those damn riddle doors are a road block for me. I was able to bypass the first one by using the live another life mod and start off as a member, but can't bypass the second door. I force progress the storyline to repair the brotherhood, thinking I wouldn't be riddle challenged, but I was wrong. The 'unlock' command does not work to bypass the riddle and the secret entrance to the lair is not yet available to me. Is there another way to get inside without going through the storyline? Such as a command to teleport my character to an interior cell, perhaps? Or, a command to make the riddle door behave like a normal door? Thanks in advance for assistance. P.S. - Does anyone know how moderators/admins classify a question like mine? If 'warning: spoiler' is put in a thread topic line, is it ok to post this in the mod troubleshooting section?
  22. Another thing I should mention, is if the worse case scenario comes to pass and the save(s) are beyond recovery, this mod could be a big time saver for you: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/14152 (Leveler's Tower Mod) Just in case you weren't aware of its existence. I haven't used it myself, but it seems like a good 'plan B' if nothing else works.
  23. Oh, I do use that. In fact the patch itself replaces Headbomb's espo files (NMM asks me if I want to upgrade, and if I say no, it asks for conformation of overwrite) using its own with the exact same names. Also its not just containers and merchants, its the Items/Magic/Journal/System menus as well. So pressing Esc/J/Tab+A/Tab+A trips the CTD too. So...If it likes to crash in the Journal or System menus too, would that still point the blame at Headbomb's mod? Edit: I just noticed in NMM that Headbomb's mod wasn't activated but Shrilankan's patch was. Maybe that is what kept breaking that save file? Or something in addition to this. If that's the case then I doubt Better Sorting is the culprit. What actually seems more likely to be causing the CTD (I should have noticed sooner) is papyrus going bonkers with writing error to the logs. If the logs are growing to such extreme sizes so quickly, it may be stressing either your hardware and/or the game engine. Have you tried disabling logging and seeing if things improve? On a side note, I don't want to give you any misleading impressions. I'm far from an expert on this myself, just throwing out ideas based upon my limited knowledge and experience so far. Hopefully, someone more knowledgeable than I am can chime in for you and give a bit more insight. I still think the logging issue is the prime suspect, however.
  24. Since you reported CTD during interaction with containers and merchants, my guess is that it might be a leveled list issue (at least in part) with Headbomb's mod and Dragonborn. It doesn't look like you are running Sharlikran's compatibility patch for Better Sorting, and it might be worth a try to see if it helps resolve the issue. You can find his patches here: http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/26230
