Andrewchap
HiAny takers on creating a mod to provide alternative ways to recharge weapons, or any ideas for alternative charging. The only thing I can find in my searches are infinite charge mods or using the console.... this is not so good for those who dont like the ultimate weapon cheat style of play or want to maintain some kind of immersion integrity to their game.Lets stay away from contriversial talk regarding soul charging and ethics etc... just some cool ideas that add immersion and fun...... and nothing that is just an easy non immersive fix.... 'hey look I press a button and my weapon kills everything now'.My ideas include: Blocking of certain spells with an enchanted weapon can absorb 'charge' at considerable risk to the blocker. The more powerfull the spell the more charge is absorbed by the weapon. Maybe charge gained would be directly proportional to the damage sustained/inflicted.Leach weapons that drain the charge from other weapons on block then can charge other weapons.Localities that an enchanted weapon can be placed on and recharged... rare/hidden, rumours from npcs for finding, maybe these would have time limits before they can be used again.... Since I first posted this I have seen numerous request for alternatives to weapon reacharge... this is a real need in the community some one please take this up ;) Thanks in anticipation Edited February 15, 2013 by Andrewchap
Andrewchap
I just wanted to add that there have been a number of requests (including those by ekimolaos and camelstyle) along this line in the last week... and many before. This is a genuine need in the community... Any takers... pleeease ;)
RaktoastTheSandwichTopper
why not add a spell or some other thing that uses the player's magika to recharge the enchantment
Wafflesalot
I been following this and I agree. I wouldn't mind taking this on, I'll reply in proper in a bit when I have fleshed out some details. Alright? If you got any more ideas post em here. EDIT: The Reason why this hasn't been done yet is because of the lack of Charge setting commands for Enchanted weapons.......but it would seem SKSE just added in a few more I'll do some testing and get back you guys. RaktoastTheSandwichTopper
dirty magik user *spits* :P jk but i'm looking forward to this :P :D
Wafflesalot
Alright so. This is entirely Possible now but with one limitation the item CANNOT be in your inventory or equipped as there is not way to get the reference of a item in your inventory yet. But you can Charge items that are lying around or I guess it's also possible to do a quick swap while the player is in the menu.....so i'll make a on touch spell that uses magicka to charge A weapon your pointing at since that's simple. (Maybe 15 magicka to 1 charge?) then go for other methods or refining that after? I will be directed by you guys mostly for now So keep suggestions coming if you have them. (I am hoping to also do some modifications to how Enchanting works but that's for later.)
RaktoastTheSandwichTopper
found this if any one is interested it uses your magika instead of soulgems http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/9852
ekimolaos
Well all these ideas are great. I'd love to see them plus my idea (which actually isn't mine, but a guy's who made a mod like that for oblivion) which in case Wafflesalot you want to see it is this: http://forums.nexusmods.com/index.php?/topic/904311-enchanted-weapons-recharge/. But I'm very excited to see Andrewchap's blocking magic recharge thing, it's such a unique idea Edited February 18, 2013 by ekimolaos
Wafflesalot
I am not sure how deep I should go with these. (Not only do i want to change Enchanted weapons but also add in "Sword Oils" which will be similar to poisons but last for a certain duration and have some snazzy effects like blind or increased damage against certain kinds of creatures or maybe also Charge leeching hmmm... Ever played Witcher? kind of like that...Back to the topic at hand.) I have been working on Andrews Block Idea and it's turning out swell, right now it Absorbs a certain % based on your block skill (Absorb amount = 0.5 x Block Skill) which is then converted into Charge for your weapon that's currently equipped..Tested wwith player enchanted weapons and all stock enchanted weapons it works fine from what I can tell (Currently it does over charge the weapon if your at max but eh I will sort that out soon.) I will include a MCM menu on release so feel free to suggest what I can add as options to that.Ekimos I am afraid I can't do a natural regen....maybe some sort of recharge station? but even then I don't think I can get it working right...there just isn't the commands for it.I would like to hear your guys thoughts on what the danger of Absorbing magic should be? I was thinking along the lines of there is a slight chance of Dropping the weapon each absorb, or perhaps disintegration of the Weapon or simply just cause damage to the player sometimes while overcharged? but maybe you fellas will have better ideas. Andrewchap
Wafflesalot you are a genius!! I love what you are coming up with so far. I wrote a post a few days ago however I wasnt signed in and it never went through.... it basically said thanks to waffles after his comments on the 16th and encouraged every one to keep giving ideas ... any ideas will do (please give any ideas - we wont consider them silly - unless you arent serious!).... we can leave it in waffles capable hands to filter those that he likes/are practicle or that can be done. An idea that seems silly might just have some awesome bits that can be adapted and merged with others. A couple of ideas (I have no idea how hard these are so feel free to ignore - Also no pressure waffles I am wrapped about what you have already done and have no expectations on you - just appreciation): Slow background recharge in areas of intense magical activity (historic/present)... maybe around shrines, deaths of dragons, in certain caverns etc... (maybe some one will come up with better locations?)Recharge sites at certain shrines On a side issue and probably on the silly side but im going to take my own advice: I always thought that you should have been able to dunk your magic weapons in those magicka restoring fountain things inside the oblivion gates.. It would be neat to randomly find (very low chance) sites that enabled you to recharge your weapon .... i suppose im imaging being lost deep in a forest and finding a small glowing pool or rock that I could dunk my weapon into and recharge it....(I say random as I would think it would be too hard to place these sites throughout the game?). Thanks all
