Well I used your setup and with it the controller almost became useless. I could move forward slowly with the left stick even if it was pushed forward all the way but could not sprint most of the buttons did nothing. The a button did not make me jump it did nothing and the start menu button stopped working. I had to reinstall the vanilla version of the controlmap.txt to get my controls back again. although by using the buttons on the keyboard for setup it did make the jump system work but only by using the keyboard. That means Joy2Key isn't working correctly with your system. Are you on windows 8? I've never tried to run Joy2Key on win8, my computer is win7 x64. I'm sorry it's not working for you. That is odd, and if Joy2Key is working with word pad then there must be some restriction where Skyrim is not accepting Joy2Key's keyboard emulation on your OS. I will look into this further and post any positive results I find. Thank you for trying, I'm sure this can be resolved.
vinniewryan
http://joytokey.webs.com/faq.htm This is the FAQ for Joy To Key. The very first post says: Does not work on Windows Vista or 7JoyToKey may not be able to control certain softwares on Windows Vista or 7 due to an enhanced security control. If you encounter such cases, please try to launch JoyToKey.exe by opening right-click popup menu and select "Run as administrator". Alternatively, you can also try "Use XP compatible mode" in the same popup menu. This could be the problem, and is what I was referring to when I say the OS could be restricting it. If you want to try again it could be this simple. I've had many full screen applications cause this problem with hardware. Its like win7 won't let certain programs talk to driver-level applications, unless you run as admin.

One more thing now is that for some reason the lb button causes you to sprint without moving forward on the thumbstick. Any idea why that is and if there is a way to change it back? Open Joy2Key and make sure that Button5 is set to 'Alt'. If it says 'Alt, W' then double click it, click 'Clear' then re set it to Alt only. Alternative method: In the first keyboard menu, there is an option called "Assign Special Keys". Use the first drop down list and select "L-Alt", then make sure the second drop down list is set to 'Key1'. Click 'Assign' then 'Ok'. You may have to reconfigure Sprint and Jump, unless you used Space Bar for both the Jump and Move Forward when configuring it the first time. Let me know if that fixes it
omnomnomgoat
Ok it had alt and w on button five and i changed it to just be alt but now how do i set it in game. I tried hitting lb for first and then y for the next two prompts but it didnt work and i wouldnt sprint jump. The buttons would go through the prompts but once it states it is initialized no sprint jump happens. I have also tried assigning w to stick 1 up. After assigning that i hit lb for the first prompt i pushed up on the joystick for the second prompt (which worked) and then it led to the last prompt which I hit y and then said it was initialized and sprint jump worked for the keyboard but strangely enough not for the controller. So all in all do i need to assign w to something now that it is not with alt or not and either way what do I do for the in game setup? (also I dont get the alternative method. What keyboard menu?)
