I'm having serious problems with Nchardak. The control cube that is supposed to be on the pedestal where the flame jets are doesn't exist. There is a quest marker pointing to it, but the cube isn't there, which means I cannot complete the mission at all. Console commands are useless because they can't open the protective cover over the book, and trying to add the book directly to my inventory does not work. Setting quest stages and objectives as completed does not work. Nothing works. At all. It seems like there is literally no way to fix this. I even tried adding some control cubes to my inventory, but that doesn't work either.

Just terrible. How can they possibly have thought this was anywhere near ready for release? It's a total disaster. I am angry I actually spent money on this.

I dunno if it'll work for you, but first make a backup copy of dragonborn.esm, then run TES5edit to clean it.

Are you using udbp, the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch? Because I was, and was having this problem, but then I turned off the esp and it worked just fine.

I've tried it all but nope there is still no cube

I had the same problem. Without the unofficial patch. So I installed the patch. Still no cube. I go back out...then the door was unavailable when I wanted to go back into the room with the fire. So I went out completely, to the room with the book. Then back again...and the cube was in his place. Luck? or the bug is not always there? I dont know.

I'm facing a similar problem as well.

I've managed to reach a certain point early into the quest before running into a crash.

I installed the Unofficial Dragonborn Patch, and it has only worsened the crashes.

As of now: going into First-person, changing weapons, and attempting to open doors will cause an instant CTD.

Uninstalling the patch now crashes my game before it even finishes loading.

I'm completely unable to go beyond the first room in Nchardak, because all saves after that point are in first-person.

Attempting to leave through the entrance and ignore that quest causes a crash as well.

I rarely ever ask for help and always try to see if someone else has had this problem before, but this time has gotten too far out of hand and i'm unable to find any source that showed a solution beyond just installing the unofficial patch.
