Help installing Cinematic Lighting

Hi everybody. I'm a total noob in installing mods in skyrim... Actually, I'm totally new to new generation gaming in general, coming from a 7 years hiatus from videogames.

Skyrim is the first I've been playing in years, but back in the day I played both daggerfall and morrowind.

When I discovered I could "mod" the game this much I was hooked immediately. I have successfully installed, manually (I don't like the "mod manager" idea too much): Script Extender, UI, Get Snowy, Winter is coming, dance of death, follower overhaul and hd 2k textures. None of these slows down the performance of my computer nor gives any kind of problem.

The last mod I would like to add is this:

http://skyrim.nexusmods.com/mods/4142

Now, I got that I have to install the files "preparatory" to the installation of cinematic lighting from the ENB site, and know I have to install them beforehand, but the "how" to do it is very unclear.

The most recent ENB file I found, the enbseries_skyrim_v0146.zip comes with 2 versions, Wrapperversion and Injector version and I don't know which of the 2 to use.

Also, I'm not adamant about the changes required to the skyrimprefs file to make the mod work

( these:

bFloatPointRenderTarget=1

iMultiSample=1 (MSAA may duff up SSAO)

bFXAAEnabled=1 (If you want to get rid of jaggies)

sD3DDevice="ENB" (which should exist and already be set after using the Skyrim launcher once)

And while you are at it these are worth adding:

bTreesReceiveShadows=1

bDrawLandShadows=1 ).

There are 2 skyrimpref files: one in documents/mygames, where the saves are, and one in a subfolder of the main directory. Which one is to be modified? Both?

Also, in the evenience one of these lines was absent, I know I have to add it, but I'm not sure WHERE exactly.

A synthetic point by point guide "for dummies" would be very helpful.

Sorry for the wall of text.

You have to download the official ENB version which the ENB preset was made for. You can use newer or older ENB main files but you're by no means gauranteed to have the intended visuals. The Cinematic Lighting ENB mod description page states that it uses ENB v0.102, so download this one.

This also answers your previous question: ENB can be applied into Skyrim in two ways and these are the two versions you mentioned - wrapper and injection. You only need to use one as they both result in the same visual, and which one you chose is up to you and your particular Skyrim setup. The wrapper ENB contains a d3d9.dll file and once all of the files are installed it will automatically run when you launch Skyrim. The injector ENB uses an enbseries.dll file instead of the d3d9.dll and the injector itself which you'll need to launch the ENBInjector.exe before launching Skyrim. Some people prefer / need the injector version as there are a few other mods that can be applied to Skyrim that also need their own d3d9.dll so there won't be file conflict. However, the wrapper version can use two d3d9.dll but it requires a brief setting up of ENBs proxy library option.

As for installation, chose which ENB version to use (wrapper or injector) and simply copy all of the files from this ENB version into Skyrims main directory (where TESV.exe is). Then to apply the Cinematic Lighting ENB mod just copy all of its files into Skyrims main directory and overwrite the files when prompted. That's it.

Also, I'm not adamant about the changes required to the skyrimprefs file to make the mod work

For ENBs sake, all you need to do is ensure the line"bEnableFileSelection=1" does actually have a value of 1 (enabled) and not 0 (disabled) - it's in the "Launcher" section of the file. As for the correct SkyrimPrefs.ini, the only one you need to adjust is the one that's typically located in: C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim for 64 bit Windows or C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\Skyrim

for 32 bit Windows.

Thank you for taking the time to write all of this so clearly and exhaustively. I really appreciate it.
