Fallout NV Survival overhaul

I've been playing fallout nv since it's release and as much as i love this game the post apocalyptic survival leaves something to be desired. If i were a modder the first thing i'd do for a mod is change how the survival aspect of the game effects the way you play the game. Project nevada did a lot to change how the game plays but there nothing as far as making the game more like a pure survival game like the popular arma 2 mod day z.

Here's the idea: Increase random incounters with other wanderers struggling to survive the mojave, people willing to kill others on sight just for the sake of resources. increase spawn areas and rate for ghouls for the extra danger and excitment. add hud visable hunger and thirst bars. And some effect so that the player has more need to find shelter at night for protection or recovery. add thieves who arent visable on radar while sneaking who catch you at your weakest to try and steal life saving supplies.

These are not all the ideas i can come up with but they are the basis for what i'd like to see done with this paticular mod, please comment and post things to add to this so we as a community can better realize a way to change this great game to more of a struggle for dear life than just a rpg game with user initiated events.

Thank you for your time.

I like most of what you are suggesting. A couple of things I would add to make things more realistic though. Firstly, scrap the sillier perks like mysterious stranger. I really like this game but there is quite a lot of comedy for a game set after the near destruction of the human race.

Secondly, I would like to remove the markers on the compass that point to locations and also people. In addition to this I would like to see the removal of the map from the Pipboy but instead have a bunch of maps of different quality scattered around the wastes. Some could be hand drawn maps other wastelanders have drawn while some could be pre-war paper maps. For true hardcore it would be better to have to compare a few different maps to figure out where you are rather than have a Pipboy with a digital map that always shows your location and quest headings. Do you think that satellites would still be working almost 200 years after a nuclear war?

Finally, remove the noise that is given off when you are around radiation but provide Geiger counters and radiation reactive wrist bands. Radiation is a silent killer. You want realistic then make it so that you have to keep checking for Radiation.

For your HUD request, I recommend oHUD. It's a combination of Gopher's Immersive HUD, Adjustable HUD and Extra HUD. Extra HUD adds the HUD elements you want.

There are a couple of mods that I have tried that add extra enemies: Using IWS - Increased Wasteland Spawns and DFB - Random Encounters make the world much more like a war-zone, but at the same time it also means you level up faster and end up with a lot more loot.

Note: All of these mods use The Mod Configuration Menu (MCM), which requires NVSE. You can use IWS and Random Encounters without MCM, but the HUD mods require it.

If you are playing Hardcore mode, then that is reason enough to need a place to sleep. If enemies are nearby then you can't sleep. It would be nice to add the chance that you get attacked if you are trying to sleep out doors. I don't know of anything that does this.

I would like to expand on one of you ideas a bit. It would be nice to spread around some random Wastelanders who appear friendly at first, and then turn on you later. I think this could be achieved through timing the events in a way. Like the Wastelander knows you saw him, but since you ignored him he will attack you. Some of them could come approach you for help or demanding your money and if you refuse then they could turn hostile. One of the problems with these ideas, would be location. Where would you find these guys? On the road between major locations? Surely not in the towns. Also the Jackals, Vipers and Fiends cover a lot of areas.

One suggestion for doing this would be to write to the creator of the Willow companion. Willow herself is a bit too cutsie for my liking but the was she was designed is pretty cool. If you could use the point system that was used for her than you could create people you could meet who may react friendly at first but you could set certain events which lower or raise their points. For example, if you start spending a lot of caps in their presence they might be more inclined to try and rob you. Maybe they would become more friendly with you if you either rob people yourself or if you take out very tough creatures in their presence.
