Need help in making a spell please

Hmm, that is pretty odd. I was able to get it to work in my testing, although I set up the spell a bit differently. Namely, I used Banish as a base instead of Fireball. I think the important difference might be that, in the upper right of the Magic Effect menu where it says "Delivery", Banish used "Target Actor" instead of "Aimed" like Fireball uses. That might affect how the spell triggers events, though I can't say I know for sure since I only tested with Target Actor. Or perhaps it's possible that the "No Death Dispel" and "FX Persist" tickboxes are interfering in some way? Because I noticed I had them turned off, yet it worked for me ingame. I don't really get why it would make a difference, but you just never know with CK...

Anyways, here's the exact setup I used which worked when I tested it on the first living thing I saw in Riverwood. However, it's quite bare-bones with very little eye candy and does nothing besides dissolve the corpse because I cobbled it together in like 5 minutes. All Condition boxes are empty.

I hope this helps you out. Creation Kit can be such a headache sometimes...

Holy Crap - it's working!!!

I noticed your Megic Effects: Effect Archetype setting was on "Script" which I believe I never changed from whatever its default value was. I didn't even realise that there was an option for script in there so I guess it wasn't picking up on it when I was trying before. Don't know, but either way, it's working!!!

I have the mod file backed up now and going to revert back to my tutorial video for creating a spell book, and perhaps even play around with the spell casting visuals.

Thank-you soooooooo much for your help - I would never have sussed all this out by myself. I'll do my experimenting now, then properly update the mod later today (including major credits to yourself and other thread contributors) - might even make a video for the mod too.

Thanks again

Well, I don't know much about this stuff yet, but I know that dragons behave differently than pretty much anything else in the game. I'm just started to get into modding, and right now all I've done is tweak the looks of a few NPCs. Since I have some experience in programming, I'm hoping the scripting will make sense when I get to that point.

Yeah, I've seen quite a few Magic Effect Target Conditions where "HasKeyword" "Keyword:'ActorTypeDragon' are present, which I think are mainly exclusion items.

I'm trying to edit BLOODGAZMS script code to allow dragons to be included into the spell, but seeing as I don't know how to write scripts I'm getting a load of compiling errors instead.

More :wallbash:

Didn't one of the patches for Skyrim make it so that dragons couldn't get ash-pile'd, to fix a bug where people with the disintegrate perk sometimes failed to get dragon souls? Anyways, I'll see if I can do anything about it, I really didn't expect that.

In the meantime, you could always cast Reanimate Corpse at a dragon's skeletal remains and watch it get propelled half a kilometre across Whiterun

Thanks FortuneQuaker - I've just responded to your message in my mods comments section.

@ BLOODGAZMS: I've update the mod now to include the spell and given you credit and kudos. Thank-you again for all your help, was very kind of you.
