Vortex crashes/freezes; won't launch. Never happened before.

Okay, I'll look at rolling back.

 

I did just discover that if I launch Vortex and it's stuck in its never-ending crash/load loop -- if I then launch another program while that's happening, that seems to force Vortex to finish launching. I got in and got a bunch of error messages about crashing. I tried the crash report but it had attached over 20MB of logs and wouldn't let me submit.

Yeah I read that thread. Doesn't apply here. I have the same problem though -- Vortex caught in infinite crash/load loop on startup. But I don't have any misnamed save games like that thread talks about. I checked, they're all normal.

 

I guess it's safe to rollback to v1.2.20 and hope that works?

Is there some sort of safe mode to launch Vortex? I never had any troubles like this before. The last thing I did when it was working was deploy and sort some Fallout 4 mods on v1.2.20. After that this problem happened (while still on v1.2.20). Then I installed 1.3.4 - same problem, and then 1.3.5 today - same problem.

 

It feels like some sort of initialization or config file is messed up?

 

Occasionally, it will launch successfully all the way and give me a bunch of errors, but at least it's running. But 90% of the time it does the freeze/crash/launch loop endlessly.

 

UPDATE: I got through to a full launch in one of the rare 10% successes. Yet it will not let me submit a crash report. It keeps saying I've exceeded the 20MB limit for files, and then gives me weird error about name too long. How do I handle this? Nothing seems to work right.
