UnblemishedSalmon
I did a clean install of Skyrim (as described by the STEP guide) and right now only have a couple texture mods installed+all of the unofficial patches (I have all 3 DLC). My game automatically CTD's when I try to go exterior to interior or interior to exterior. I can't leave the player home in Markarth in one of my saves, and I can't enter Whiterun w/ CTD...but in my other save files (in Solitude, Riften) load just fine, although I do CTD when I try to leave. I tried validating the game cache, but no matter what I do I get a "1 file(s) failed to validate, will reacquire" message (paraphrasing here). I can do this process several times in a row and Steam will start downloading the same 752 byte file. Basically, what is standard operating procedure if you do a clean install and Skyrim still CTD's constantly on you?
Ironfungus
So, you have the unofficial dragonborn patch installed? I'm having the same issue, and it all started when I downloaded that. However even after disabling / uninstalling it, the problem persists. Currently re-downloading the game. If you're using SkyUI or SKSE, try removing them completely and performing a clean, regular save (not quick save). Reload the game, and see if the problem's fixed. For me, though, I couldn't even access my inventory or any menus without the game crashing
UnblemishedSalmon
Tried removing everything, including SKSE and SkyUI, still get crashes trying to leave the Markarth player home. Now I'm removing everything, deleting local game content, and seei f that fixes anything.
micnet
I found using TES5Edit to clean all of the .esm and .esp files that BOSS shows dirty edits to helps with the CTD's. Even the official Bethesda add-ons have issues in them. Having said that my game still CTD's in certain areas and I get random load screen freezes all of the time! On one of my clean installs I dialed my ugridstoload variable back to the stock value of 5 which allowed me to travel to Solstheim. Something I can't seem to do if I have it set to 7. Maybe doing one of these will help you out. On the bright side, judging from these forums, at least you're not the only one whose Skyrim game is about as stable as a methed-out teen mom! Lol. Try a new game and see if you still have problems. You can also try deleting both your Skiyrim INI files and letting the game regenerate them.
