New game with Dragonborn

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to start a new game with these mods installed + HighResPack and after the initial loading screen( the one with Alduin you always get when first starting the game), I get a CTD. Anyone can spot anything that might conflict? I'm talking about mods that cause major conflicts when used together or with Dragonborn DLC? I've spent 4 days making this list and everything was working great, until I added Dragonborn to the list and I updated the mods. Maybe I missed something or maybe there's a problem with my load order. For example all mods after 71 WATER.esp are hand placed in the load order, because BOSS doesn't recognize them yet. Any advice is much welcomed.

Thanks in advance!

PS: if you need other details ask and I'll try my best to answer.

I don't have any suggestions as far as what mod(s) may be leading to the CTD, but have you tried just disabling all of your mods, then re-enabling them to see which is the culprit? This is actually a pretty effective method when you're getting CTDs consistently in the same spot (right at the beginning, in your case).

I'd disable everything after the unofficial dragonborn patch--the game should start up okay, of course. Then re-enable the next 30 (or whatever number you wish) mods and see what happens. If that works, enable the next 30, see what happens, and so on, until you start crashing again. Once it crashes, then you know the mod(s) in conflict is within the group you just enabled. Then you can narrow your search down--keep disabling mods from that group until the CTDs go away. Once that happens, you'll know what mod was causing the conflict.

I always keep that as a last resort. I asked here in case someone might spot a conflict that I don't know about right on. Thanks for your response!

Can you replace your load order with a BOSS log (with the messages)? Include the list of plugins not recognized by BOSS.

1)

  Quote
HighResTexturePack01.esp

HighResTexturePack02.esp

  Quote
Unofficial High Resolution Patch.esp Active

You don't appear to have the (new) Hi-res DLC pack (the one that was recently updated with hi-res textures for the DLCs, not the one that was released last year), but you are using the Unofficial Hi-res Patch (which is intended for the new hi-res DLC), so....

2) You can ignore the bash tag messages. As long as you have both Wrye Bash and BOSS installed, they require no additional user action, unless you want to use Wrye Bash to verify those plugins have indeed been tagged as indicated. On the other hand, there are some BOSS messages that you cannot ignore:

  Quote
Lanterns Of Skyrim - Around Cities_bright.esp Active

Note: Obsolete. Update to latest version.

  Quote

dD - Enhanced Blood Main.esp Active

Requires: Dawnguard Compatibility_Patch.

Those are just the two I saw. You might want to go through your BOSS log and double check to see if there are any other issues you need to attend to.

3) What do you normally do with the plugins not recognized by BOSS?
