Offering my "Voice Acting" services

I'm a big fan of mods but don't have the time or energy to learn how to make them myself... but I'd like to give something back to the community, so I thought I might throw my services out as a potential voice actor.

I'm a 33 year old male, a former radio DJ and sportscaster, as well as an occasional actual actor on tv. I also do a MST3K-style show on the interwebs (and at conventions) where we watch public domain movies and make fun of them, so I've got no problems speaking in public, am not particularly shy, and can say practically anything you want me to. You can hear more of my voice here - http://www.cftp.us - I'm the one with the beard.

I'm from Ohio, but I don't have a "twang" (unless you want me to) and my normal voice is even, warm, and a little lower than normal range. I can also do accents - either corny or fairly convincing - for a number of euro-block countries, and can learn accents by listening to things. I can go fairly deep in range, even though it's not my natural speaking voice, but I can drop down there for a good amount of time, especially if singing.

I don't really do any "impressions", though I can do a passable Sean Connery (about on par with the SNL Jeopardy version of him). Oh, and Zordon from Power Rangers. I can also do funny voices, like nasal inflection "gollum" style voices if you need monsters or anything like that.

I have no idea if this might help anyone out, but it seemed easier to do it this way than try and hunt down individuals asking for help and volunteer.

Hi, saw this post and wondered if we could collaborate. I am both a modder AND a voice actress, having done several voices both for my mods and Interesting NPCs. Here's my VA site. http://annaincharacter.webs.com/ I am from TX, but like you dont have a twang unless someone wants me to, can do accents (any accent I hear I can replicate). I can do impressions, and I have a huge range.

And I wondered if you'd have any tips on actually getting paying jobs doing VA, outside of modding etc. I find I really enjoy this, and I'm good at it, received many compliments.

I see no reason why not - maybe this post could become a voice actor "meet-and-greet" post where we can volunteer our services and match up with interested projects.

As to making money... I haven't done any "for pay" voice acting since my radio DJ days, and that was all through the station. I have seen a lot of people offering their services on fiverr.com, so that might be a way to monetize your voice. I've hired a couple of people (musicians) through there and it's pretty easy from the buyer end of things, not sure how it is from the performer/maker end.

Somebody working on the helgen rebuilt project is looking for voice actors currently. I'm not part of it or anything, but I think it looks pretty awesome. He is looking for both male and females, (female badly) I'm sure he isn't paying for it though. But yeh you can check it out at the bethsoft forums

Do etiher of you do Oblivion? If not, no worries. This sounds like a winning combination! Best of luck and thanks for helping to enrich the community.

I am not actively playing Oblivion, but I do loves me some Oblivion, and would be happy to potentially lend a vocal chord. What did you have in mind?

"A Crudius Orc Companion" seems popular for something I hardly spent any time on at all! Since you mentioned low-voice, (not that you're not capable of more) I though this might be a good one for you. Only thing is I never worked with a voice-actor before, so you'll have to tell me what you need. Just click my sig link to see my mods. I usually write female-heavy stuff but there is always room for a male voice.
