Play saves after uninstalling Unofficial Patches

I know the Unofficial Oblivion Patch is super awesome, but I have Oblivion on Steam, and my save's dependency on UOP just adds an extra step to installing my game.

Is there ANY way to remove that dependency? I've tried going to TestingHall, saving, and then playing on vanilla Oblivion, but it still crashes when it tries to load the save.

Does anyone even know what's making my save rely on UOP?

I don't think that it's actually the UOP causing the dependency. What's probably happening is that your save is dependent on something that the UOP fixed. After the removing the UOP, the fixed item becomes unfixed and therefore the game crashes when it looks for that fixed item.

What you can do is run your mod list through BOSS and take careful note of any mods that require cleaning... and then clean them. That might remove the apparent dependency on UOP.

I'm not sure what precisely you are hoping to accomplish here. What precisely this this "extra step" you seem to be intent on avoiding?

Thanks for answering, and sorry I didn't see your answer sooner! I was so busy playing Skyrim, I forgot about all of my Oblivion problems. D:

Anyway, it makes much more sense that a save would rely on something that the UOP fixes. Since you reminded me of that, I decided to test to figure out which fix is causing the crash. After my first test, I already fixed it. I forgot to try removing my inventory before removing UOP in my previous tests. After putting all of my stuff into a chest, removing UOP, and then loading, I can play again with all of my stuff. :D However, I had so many things in my inventory, that if there was only a single thing that was removed along with UOP, I wouldn't notice.

Thanks for your help!

P.S. The "extra step" I don't want to go through anymore is actually installing UOP. I (used to) often do things such as wipe my computer and reinstall my operating system, which means having to reinstall Oblivion any time I decide to play for a while. Most of the time, I end up losing interest or am busy by the time Oblivion is finally installed with my save backups, UOP, and mods. Reverting to vanilla would prevent this, even though I won't be wiping my computer anymore.
