Trinsic75
An odd problem has cropped up. In the Nightcaller Temple Quest, I am able to save pretty much any time up until after I finish the "dreamstep" segment. Once I return to the waking world, however, if I try to save the game I crash. Anyone able to suggest a fix?
Uthuriel
try saving with the console, open the console and type something like: save skyrim this should work

fiewiel
I ran into the same bug.Drink the torpor, make the dreamstep, run out of the temple, save, go in and everything should work again.
IsharaMeradin
Oh the Vaermina thing. I ran into a similar issue. Had my auto-save mod running and I crashed right after all combat finished. Figured it was due to my auto-save mod interfering with something. So I reloaded and tried to manually save, it too crashed. What I ended up doing was suspending my auto-save mod, went back to a save prior to drinking the topor, played up to the point of drinking the topor and made a save then did my best to get thru without being killed. Once I exited the dreamstate, I waited till I was fully outside the dungeon to re-initiate my auto-save mod. So the solution is to not save during the dreamstate and to return to Skyrim before attempting to save the game again.
ripple
This is a well known bug introduced by one of the official updates: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Waking_Nightmare#Bugs As of patch 1.8, saving during or after the Dreamstride portion of thequest will cause the game to freeze on consoles or crash to desktop onPC.To prevent this, avoid saving during this quest, and disable autosaves as well.http://images.uesp.net/6/66/Pc22.pnghttp://images.uesp.net/6/69/Xbox360.pngAlternatively, after removing the barrier to speak with Erandur, simplyleave the dungeon to go outside (in icy Skyrim), save outside,re-enter, and you should be able to save again normally.http://images.uesp.net/6/66/Pc22.png As the bug originates during the Dreamstride, use the console command tcl, cross through the barrier, and remove the soul gem. Since the questprogress is scripted through the status of the soul gem, this willprogress the quest just as if you had used the Dreamstride. The onlyimpact it will cause on the game is that there will be no enemies excepttwo orcs in the dining room, Torek and Veren.http://images.uesp.net/b/b0/PS22.pngThe least complicated method to avoid this bug is to exit to theoutdoor before and after the dreamstride. Exiting before the dreamstridewill enable you to do it again after the dream, or else you will not beable to exit the temple at all.
