Largo
So there I was, perusing a politcal e-zine and chuckling at all the anti-Bush information and jokes... "Amen brother!" and "Preach it, Rev!" were common shouts as I read the page... But this isn't about Bush's gross misuse of the country (don't even mention it past this point). This is about this website I found a link to. Now, I consider myself a pretty up-to-date guy with a general knowledge of the world, but this kinda blew me away. I was still chuckling, but it was a sad laugh, not one of enjoyment... Allow me to outline some the more extreme sections... First of all, I don't really see why naming a white power site after a German anti-tank weapon makes sense. angel Jokes? My god, that second joke on the page really made me sad for humanity... The Name of the Bands and the Lyrics are absolutly ludicrous. I fail to see the correlation between the norse mythology and neo-nazi hate bands. Is it because the norse have blond hair and blue eyes? This page right here had me laughing again for obvious reasons... Aryan Fest? I'm sure Aryanstock is more catchy... I think that's enought links for now...Maybe this should of gone in the debate section, but to those of you who support this...drivel, I'll just shake my head. My god, it's nice to know that we as a people have progressed so much.
mrpyromania
See,this is why I am a special kind of racist. Im racist against people. Period. The only reason why I don't kill myself everytime I look in the mirror is beacuse when I go down,Im taking as many as I can with me. But seriously,Aryan Fest? There are some sad things in this world, and that's one of them.
Largo
I'm sure there are still some very virtuous people out there, but I can see why you think this way. umm, when you do "go down" make sure I'm a few countries away.
Largo
Ouch, I can't believe that a thread about the society of mankind is being beaten out by a thread about a metal in a computer game. Dear god, mrpyromania you're right about humans!
Albareth
This is nothing new. Nazism and general extreme right-wing sentiments have been festering and taking roots again over a long period of time now. You haven't but take a look over the general state of Europe and the US to see the steady increase in right-wing sentiments, leading to things like these. Nazism, Neo-Nazism and every variation thereof is very real, in every country, and a very real threat that must be kept under close watch. Sadly, it isn't. I don't know why but it isn't. You can find several sites very reminiscent of that one widely spread around the net, in practically any language known to man. It's very sad that things are degenerating in this direction... but the recent upsurge of vocal left-wing sentiments after the invasion in Iraq give me some hope that the tide may be turning around somewhat. Slaiv
I don't really agree with the War on Iraq, but it apalls me how Americans are treated. Captured soldiers are tortured, beheaded, butchered, dragged through the streets, hung, molested, violated, mutilated, and all this is broadcast on TV. You have to realize that the Soldiers are just doing what they're told, not what they want to do. Ask any soldier in Iraq, and I'm pretty sure they'll tell you that they don't want to be there. Now, back to Nazism. I completely disagree with it. The only thing that has to do with Nazism, facism, Hitler [and anything relating to those] is the amount of power that Hitler had. I don't agree with how he achieved it, and I am constantly beating myself up just for being astonished and fascinated with the sheer amount of power and influence Hitler had. Don't take this wrong, I am completely opposed to Nazism and racism, and the likes... Just the fear, respect, power, influence, impact, etc... It astounds me. Like I said, don't take this wrong.... P.S. I don't mean the impact as in the millions of Jews dead, etc... I mean the magnitude of the impact, the sheer size of it...
Albareth
Americans are being treated badly, yes. But believe me, if the Iraqis doing it as a sign of opposition to the occupation could drag Bush personally instead of all these soldiers, I bet they would. It's just a matter of revenge against an invading army for those that do it, the soldiers are the only level of command they can reach to take revenge upon. Maquissar
It is indeed sad that, almost sixty years after the fall of Nazi Germany, there are still people who think that Nazism is cool, that the Holocaust was a hoax and that Adolph Hitler was an enlightened mind. But I guess this is all in all a direct consequence of freedom of thought and freedom of speech, and can be regarded as a positive thing.Fortunately, the phenomenon isn't that common, and I still believe that "normal" people outnumber those extremists. However, it is also true that - as Largo's pictures prove - the Western society is also quick to forget its history. So many things have been said, books have been written, movies have been shot, about the horrors Holocaust. In sixty years, we haven't been able to forget about it once. However, I don't see the medias giving the same coverage to what has happened before that - the Inquisition, for example, or the extinction of the Aztecs, or - speaking about more recent things - the way the English colonists, and then the United States, seized the whole NorthAmerican continent from the native americans. Those things are apparently more easily forgotten because they are not as recent as the Nazi Holocaust - but I am sure that is not the only reason. As for the war in Iraq - well, you can't say The Iraqis are this or The Iraqis did that... The Iraqi society is composed of a number of different people. Some of them are happy that the Americans have come, other resent the American occupation but do nothing, and others resent the American occupation and do everything in their power to fight the invading forces. This said, I still believe that the Iraqi people are all in all going to benefit from not having Saddamas their leader anymore... but it will take some time for the country to become safer. The situation will improve, possibly, when every Iraqi has free access to information and realises that many of the things that their political and religious leaders made them believe were false. But there will ALWAYS be extremists... if you have Nazis 60 years after the fall of the Third Reich, how can you expect not to have Iraqi extremists when not even one year has passed since the conquest - er, liberation of Iraq?
