lotherius
Has anyone tried the new Catalyst 13.2 beta for Radeon cards? In the changelog it has, among other unrelated fixes, these little gems: Significantly improves latency performance in Skyrim, Boderlands 2, and Guild Wars 2Resolves Texture flickering seen in DirectX9.0c applications. Looks like maybe it would be worth updating to get the best graphics experience :) http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/AMDCatalyst132BetaDriver.aspx (for 5000 series and up only)... I didn't have a chance to test it.. Ended up troubleshooting Windows all evening, explorer.exe has been turning into a runaway process... I think that's what was causing the stuttering, as explorer.exe was running at 60-70% CPU (on a quadcore) and constantly running the hard drive. It got so bad, I noticed that SkyRim would lag every time I heard an exceptionally loud burst of activity on the hard drive... still working on that issue (unrelated to SkyRim itself) as I've disabled indexing and such that would normally cause such activity... plus it is the explorer.exe executable itself. If I can defeat that problem tonight, I'll bump to the new driver as well :)
cubedj21
I can't recognize any increase of performance after installation of these beta drivers, but It's definitely not worse... I've had no issues with Skyrim after updating drivers to the latest ones at all... I must say, that the biggest performance boost (since I've started to playing Skyrim) was for me switching from Windows 7 x64 to Windows 8 x64.. games runs really good on that OS... (rather won't mention all other bugs with W8 :D)
