middle / mouse wheel click moves selected item in CK

Kind of new to the creation kit, so this may be an intended behavior, but whenever I middle click while an object is selected it jumps a certain distance along the Y axis with each click (or repeatedly if I hold it down).

 

According to the offical CK tutorial video holding down the mouse wheel should let me pan the camera around. Is this a known issue, some problem with my configuration or just another error in the video? (like the "hold y to move an object along the Y axis" line)

 

Note: I am using a logitech mouse, but I keep setpoint turned off because it makes the option buttons act weird in firefox.
