SSE Saves Won't Load

I installed C5Kev's Sexy Nordic Armor CBBE SE for my follower but armor was invisible after crafting. Then I installed COCO's Lacebody to cover nudity and got both armor and lingerie ATST...very cool! But then I installed Nordic Carved Bikini CBBE HDT Conversion mod to see if I could make C5Kev's a replacer. Didn't go well...don't remember if I crashed or couldn't load. Anyway, I uninstalled all three mods and now my game saves won't load at all. Loot was telling me I was missing patches, so I d'led/installed the patches. SKSE was out of date and I updated that only to find my game wouldn't start at all! I reverted back to old one and game now starts up to save load then CTD.

 

Now, I've done so many changes to my game that I don't know if I've made it better or worse - it still won't load a save. FI, after the loading option, there are loading screens 'til I hear the familiar hissing sound of my save being accessed, then crash! I've tried earlier saves and the same thing. Now, I don't have a clue what the problem is. Anyone else have a suggestion?

 

BTW...I can start a new game but can't use any of my existing saves. WryeBash shows them as orange 'cause of recent uninstall...but all the masters are present.

 

OTHER THINGS I'VE DONE:

 

I fixed all LOOT's objections.....NO CHANGE

I updated FNIS generator.....NO CHANGE

I updated SKSE64.....CRASH ON START

I checked integrity of game cache.....14 missing files.....RE-INSTALLED - NO CHANGE

I re-cleaned DLC's & others w/ SSEEdit.....NO CHANGE

I updated various important mods.....NO CHANGE

Manually removed remnants of uninstalled C5Kev's & Nordic Armour files Vortex didn't remove.....NO CHANGE

Gave up and came here

If your game is up to date, installing the latest SKSE shouldn't cause any issues, my suggestion there is to delete all of the SKSE files in your main Skyrim directory and start over. Then, make sure all mods that have an SKSE plugin will play with the latest version of SKSE. Being that your issues seem to revolve around body/armor mods, I'm guessing you need to update your physics package to the latest and greatest as well.

 

Just so I understand, none of your saves will load, even saves from before you messed around with the armor mods? Possible dumb question, but have you tried rebooting your computer?

 

Orange saves in Wrye just mean the load order changed, which usually isn't a problem, red on the other hand means mods are missing.

 

Is it possible something got overwritten when you were doing all of that and now there is a hidden conflict somewhere? I don't use Vortex, so I'm not sure how it handles overwrites.

You know...IDK...game's up to date but updating SKSE64 causes Skyrim to crash at start up. Right now, the only thing I can think of doing is rebuilding my game on a new SSD system I just bought. Installing everything the same and seeing if my saves load then. If not, I'm not entirely against starting a new game...but I am lvl 42...u know what I mean? The new setup is just a test right now and I don't see how it wouldn't work if I don't botch the install somehow. I'm updating everything too, which should work toward a more stable game...and fact is, I did find a lot of mistakes in my current install, like absence of patches, redundant mods and load order mistakes. Just hoping to get everything right this time in my new game and everything works. Then I'll be good to go on a brand new system. Only time will tell.

Will your game start with the updated SKSE if you disable all of your mods first? I'm just wondering if you have a mod that is hanging things up.

I'm half-way through installing onto my new system. Once I'm done that and tried my saves there, I'll look into your suggestion. Something I did find altered was my Skyrimprefs.ini. After I verified my game cache I had to start Launcher which renewed my prefs.ini. Corrected that with backup but no change. The enblocal.ini was altered too and fixed that but no saves load.

 

I didn't know this but as soon as you change your resolution in the launcher it will renew your prefs.ini file, which gets changed a lot with various mod demands. Should always make a back up. Anyway, I'll keep you posted when I'm finished my new install...prolly tomo.

When you are up and running again, look at Bethini for getting your skyrim.ini and skyrimprefs.ini setup, it also has an option to make them read-only.

Thanks saurus...for the continued support. But recently I believe I've found the source of my problem. In the course of re-installing everything again on my new system, I've encountered a new LOOT warning that is quite serious. It tells me that my patch for Realistic Room Rental Enhanced and Immersive Citizens is so badly made that it causes irreparable damage to game saves. Since the completion of my new game setup, I've found my old saves do not work. Therefore, I'm concluding that they are cooked! I have since found a suitable replacement mod for Perseid's Taverns and am testing my new install. So, I am going to start over with a better setup on a better machine, so it 'aint so bad. Thanks for all the help.....I think now we can call this thread closed (unless anyone else has anything to add) - NK
