GuantanamoForelli
So I'm making a basic mod for Fallout New Vegas that adds a gun store in North Vegas in a destroyed building located across the street from The Gray. I have everything placed down but for some reason my NPCs will spawn outside the building instead of where they are placed in the editor. I originally had the problem with only one NPC but it seems that I'm now having an issue with all the NPCs placed inside this building. I've tried looking around for what could be causing this issue but I can't seem to come up with anything. If someone can help me that be much appreciated. ashtonlp101
Is the area you created nav-meshed? NPCs will only typically spawn in areas that have been corrected Nav-meshed.
GuantanamoForelli
Is the area you created nav-meshed? NPCs will only typically spawn in areas that have been corrected Nav-meshed. No, I don't believe I have done any of that, the building across the street was previously blocked off with debris and a collision wall. So you think the issue might be because the area isn't nav-meshed? Edited September 30, 2020 by GuantanamoForelli
madmongo
I took a quick look at that area in the GECK and nothing directly north of The Gray is navmeshed (ecxept for the street of course). If you are standing in the street in front of The Gray and face north, there are three buildings. The area inside the two ruined buildings and the area north of those buildings is not navmeshed. If that is where you placed your NPCs, they will move to the closest navmesh, which is probably on the street. Do you know how to create a navmesh? If not, see here: https://geck.bethsoft.com/index.php?title=Bethsoft_Tutorial_Navmesh The tutorials show you how to create an interior navmesh. The only difference between an interior and an exterior navmesh is that the navmesh can't cross a cell boundary. You will also want to match up the navmesh in adjacent cells so that NPCs can easily cross from one cell to the other. When you finalize the navmesh, the border between the two cells will turn green where the navmeshes link up. If nothing turns green then your navmeshes weren't close enough to each other for the GECK to link them up. Redo your navmeshes and finalize them again until all of the parts that should link up turn green. Note that there is a cell boundary basically running between the two ruined buildings. Do not place furniture over cell boundaries or it won't work properly. In other words, if your gun vendor has a counter lean furniture, keep that counter lean marker away from the cell boundary. Since the cell boundary runs between the two buildings it's probably not an issue in your case. Do not place doors on cell boundaries either. I think Bethesda kinda screwed up in their placement of the manhole door to the sewers. The edge of the manhole door model is right on the cell boundary. It doesn't cause problems as-is but it's awfully close to where it would cause problems. I personally would have placed the manhole in the center of the street just to make sure it wouldn't be a problem.

Thank you for the help, the tutorial you posted was really helpful and now the NPCs are where they need to be. Thank you again!
