Do custom assets have to have triangular polygons like Bethesda's?

Hello there. I've been making progress learning to 3d model. I've now made a gambeson, leather boots, a basic cuirass etc. with similar vertex count to Bethesda (who knew I could top my donut?), but I'm confused as to why every Bethesda asset has tris, or 3 vertex faces, only. I have all quads, would that be a problem or is it okay?

All beth games (and probably all games - i am not aware of one that doesn't) will turn quads into triangles. This is why you want a good topo, to avoid weird triangles. If you want a specific triangulation you can do it manually, but it's ofc a chore.

It's probably nothing, just a newb observation at best. So it's not an issue to continue using quads for game assets as long as the topology is good, because it is automatic? Great! I thought my progress was too good to be true and I'd have to somehow remove a vertex from every face or learn a new method. I guess if it's common knowledge that it's done automatically maybe that's why no one answered me in other places. This forum is immensely helpful. Thanks, kudos to both of you!
