Reducing save file size?

My save file is around 15mb, which I decided was a bit too much. First, I waited 30 days in an interior space for cells to reset. It didn't have much of an effect on my save size.

Then I picked up the items I didn't want from my house storage chest (possibly around 100 separate items), stuffed them into an empty container, and ran "removeallitems" on the container. The items went away, but the size of my save file didn't budge. I'm thinking that either items in a container contribute minimally to save file size, or that "removeallitems" doesn't purge the items from save data.

I'm also not running any mods that are known culprits for causing save file bloat (well, that I know of). Anyone have suggestions for what else I could do? I'm not getting CTDs due to save file size yet, but I'm concerned that it may become a problem in the future.

15 mb does not seem too big IMO--I usually end up around there by the time I get done with a playthrough. If you are not experiencing problems, personally I wouldn't worry about it. The more things you own, the more houses, followers, etc, the more quests in your journal and DLCs, (not to mention any mods that add textures, items, creatures, prefs.ini tweaks that increase grids, extend distances, etc.) the larger you game will be. If you want to shrink your game, sell off your stuff, remove mods, dismiss followers, etc. To me though, I enjoy all that stuff, so again I would only make a change if you are noticing problems.

I'm about where you are Skull,LVL46 260+ hours of play.Mine is 13.6M,and I'm getting Dragonborn soon.I'm not worried, though, cause I think it's something else causing issues with ppl, since saves jsut get the game going, and shouldn't effect gameplay itself.Thoguh I guess corrupt save could add multiple items and cause lots of excess clutter if glitched the wrong way(imagines 1000 dragons loose in his home on loading, lol)
