ModmyMutha
Can I run mods for MEA through Vortex? or must I use the Frosty mod manager?Seems all current available mods are manual download only, no Vortex link.I'm presently mid download of MEA (though past the Play point in Origin) and Vortex can't discover it, even when pointed directly to it.Obviously, I'll try again after the full game is downloaded but can anyone tell me if I will be able eventually to install mods through Vortex? If not then how please.Thanx
DoctorKaizeld
If the game is not listed in vortex's compatibility list, then no it is not going to work
ModmyMutha
Thanx Dr K,Presumably then I'll have to use the Frosty mod manager.I see on the forums though that quite a few people have had problems with that route.
DoctorKaizeld
Maybe. I don't own the game, not a huge ME fan rather boring franchise. Though I can add that a lot of people often have issues with managers due to not reading the instructions and than storm forum complaining things don't work. ModmyMutha
Thanx again Dr K,While I don't storm the forums about problems, it's funny that at present I can't even open the RAR files to install the Frosty MM, so.... I've tried several apps so far but will persist before complaining. Such is cyber life I find. :smile:A side note on your "rather boring" comment; obviously it's a horses for courses thing but I never thought I'd see the term boring applied to the ME franchise.I think I get where you're coming from but I have to say that story wise it's one of the better series out there, though I'm a story based gamer myself. The original trilogy had an over arching story line with definitive end points, whereas MEA, while still having it's main story line, has the potential to be a never ending massively open world exploration game.Sadly, as it was released in a dreadful state, and got a justified caning for that, it remains to be seen whether EA will run with that potential, though I for one hope so.Actually, their 1:10 version is pretty much completely fixed and is now a good game but could be even better with the right mods, hence my eagerness to get the Frosty MM working, which I will, eventually. :) Edited October 8, 2020 by ModmyMutha
DoctorKaizeld
I like a good plot as well, but I would like to be able to find it without having to spend 30 minutes walking to talk to some guy just to spend another 30 minutes walking to another guy and another walking back to the loading screen that is my ship to spend 15 minutes flying to a different planet to walk for 30 minutes to talk to some self important lady in a bar. It gets old fast. Games like fallout fix this by adding stuff to fiddle around with but that really isn't the case for this game franchise. Really it feels like an interactive book... which I would much rather read then play
ModmyMutha
I totally get your point and sympathise. Funnily, although you say walking, having just started a re-run of MEA, one of the annoying elements I'm finding is that in fact running is the default movement mode and apparently I can't even toggle walk! This is true of many other games and when you're outside it's acceptable but when you're inside it makes little sense and breaks immersion for me. At least in most games you can toggle walk for inside or wherever you feel it isn't needed to run around.I actually quite often choose walk over run as I'm frequently impressed by the amount of detail that Devs have put into the scenery of many modern games and I like to take my time and appreciate it all. Also being somewhat of an awkward beggar, I like when you have to accompany NPC's somewhere, such as frequently in MEA, and they try to run there at top speed but I'll just walk and watch them struggle with running and stopping. Even sometimes turning back to meet up with you. All the time thinking "Yeh mate, let's not forget whose the star of this show eh? " :)
DoctorKaizeld
Lol. Yeah I like being able to walk occasionally. I also like it when we get a decent sprint. Like in fallout where there is walk, jog, and run. So you can pick you pace. A game that doesn't even let you walk is strange to me and can be a bit frustrating.
