Ever since then, my Papyrus log gets absolutely spammed to hell with "adoption scheduler" warnings and errors. She never moves into the home and won't speak to me. Am I really the only person in the world getting these errors? My game's heavily modded, sure, but I don't have ANY mods that touch player homes or adoption, so I don't see why any mods I have would conflict with this. I've had so many awesome adventures and moments with her. Unrecognised plugins are sorted by hand. I have performed ITM cleaning on all my plugins except Skyrim's original files, and have Bashed everything that needed Bashing. ripple Posted February 18, 2013 Share Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) Nothing jumps out as potentially breaking adoptions except this one: Owned.esp ActiveTry uninstalling it (not just disable, but uninstall the plugin and the associated script files, or toggle the mod off in the installation window if you are using the Mod Organizer). 1) What do you normally do with the plugins not recognized by BOSS? 2) Which kid did you try to adopt? Have you tried adopting other kids? 3) When/where/how often do you CTD? Any patterns to them? With all saves? What happens when you try to start a new game? Oh, Timescale5.esp If this does what I think it does, you should remove it and use the console to set the timescale instead. Timescale setting plugins are generally advised only for people who cannot use console to change the timescale for some reason. Pull up console and type: set timescale to # Where # is the number of game minutes that passes per real time minute. Whenever I add a mod or change its position, I re-build my bash patch. For the most part, I follow what BOSS suggests, especially when it comes to mod compatibilities and their associated patches. 2) I adopted Sophia from Winterhold. She runs around the outskirts of Whiterun now, to-and-from my house, and always says the same thing when I talk to her: "I need to grab my things, I'll meet you at home." I don't know exactly where she goes; she runs off and I lose sight of her. I haven't seen her again since I encountered her leaving my house a couple of days ago, but I'm sure she's running around outside somewhere. I haven't tried adopting more kids. I do not have a spouse. 3) Very frequently CTD when approaching Whiterun. If I manage to get close to Whiterun, I frequently CTD when crossing the bridge over the small stream leading up to the main gates. These CTDs will give me the typical "Skyrim has encountered an error and needs to close." popup. Other CTDs occur along major roads leaving the Whiterun area-- these crashes drop me immediately to my desktop (the Skyrim window just vanishes) without an error. This type of crash is what happened and produced the error log I posted in OP (the full log is bigger because I was playing for about ten minutes, and I can post the full log if needed). Other areas of the world sometimes CTD, but they are a rarer occurance. To my recollection, I have never CTD'd in an 'inside' cell. Thank you for the suggestions- I will remove the timescale plugin and uninstall 'Owned'. I was under the impression that setting timescale via the console was temporary, and I wanted a more permanent solution. My current setting for this equates to 1 real-life minute = 5 Skyrim minutes. Yeah, but these are plugins -not- recognized by BOSS. So BOSS doesn't know where to put them and they all end up loading at the end of your load order, overriding previously loaded plugins and potentially causing all sorts of havoc. Plugins not recognize by BOSS need to be checked manually forconflicting records in order to determine their load order position. Theonly reliable way to do this is to use TES5Edit to check the pluginrecords. Failing that, the user should uninstall plugins not recognizedby BOSS so they don't have to deal with the aggravation (but it's reallybetter to check them out in TES5Edit so you can use them safely in alarge load order). Users sometimes follow general guidelines provided by the modder to set the load order position of mods not recognized by BOSS. It seems that you were following this route? It's better than nothing, but since every load order is different, the 'general rule' approach is not always sufficient. The best method is still checking out the records in TES5Edit, because that's the only way you can be sure. Try disabling the plugins not recognized by BOSS and see if that resolves your adoption issue. If it does then you know one of them is responsible. Use a save game you have from before you attempted to adopt Sophia to test this, and try adopting other kids as well. The papyrus log can sometimes yield useful information about bugs and issues but it is not a 'crash log', so don't read it as such. We could be looking at two entirely different problems with the adoption and CTDs. Random outdoor CTDs are often caused by mods that add more spawns and spawn points to the worldspace. For example, mods like SkyTest and Immersive Patrols. SkyTest was responsible for 95% of the outdoor CTDs I was experiencing when I had it in my load order. The author states on the mod description page that it often does not work well with large load orders, so I recommend you uninstall that mod and see if you stabilize your game. You can post your papyrus log after doing that if you want. Delete all existing logs, then play for 10 minutes at least. Moogiefluff Posted February 18, 2013 Author Share Posted February 18, 2013 (edited) I disabled a few of the unrecognised plugins, as well as Owned (and the midas-owned patch), but still encountered a crash (same entry last in my Papyrus: defaultDeleteSelfOnReset.OnLoad() - "defaultDeleteSelfOnReset.psc" Line 25). I know what most of these other plugins change, having looked at everything in TES5Edit many times over the course of troubleshooting this issue, and I'm confident they don't touch anything related to this. Now I have SkyTest disabled, and am currently following Sofie (I kept calling her Sophia, my bad) as I found her walking along the road leading East from Whiterun. I'm curious to see where she ends up, but she walks soooo slowly... :/ I'll post back my findings if/when I crash again, or if Sofie does something unexpected. Thanks again for your helpful suggestions, ripple. Edit: She walked a little ways across the bridge over the river, and then suddenly disappeared. By the way, I did that without crashing! I've been riding to/from Whiterun along various roads, and haven't crashed again since disabling SkyTest. On reading that mod's comments page, I'm starting to think it is the primary cause of my CTDs. I am still troubled by the repeated "adoption scheduler" errors though, and the fact that Sofie is stuck in her endless loop. Is there some way to set a quest variable, or somesuch, to make her think she's done her preparations and just needs to go home? I'm not sure how all of that works, to be honest. I want to try adopting another kid, but I don't know where to actually find any. I ran into her purely by accident early in my character's life. By the way, I need to ask this just to make sure we got everything covered: does your character own a house with a child's bedroom? Did you, by chance, make any sort of changes either in game or load order-wise (e.g. uninstalled a mod) that may have disrupted the adoption process?
