Jazwind
I plan on porting a few armors from Fallout 4 and its mods into new vegas for my own personal, private use but I'm not entirely sure how to do it. i'm aware the primary thing is to get it working with NVs rig/skeleton instead of FO4s, but the tutorials and forum posts I've been able to dig up involve using NifTools for blender/3DsMax (which haven't been updated in ages from what I've gathered) I'm aware that the primary workflow now uses outfit studio but I really don't know how I can do the weightpainting/porting aspect with that. Can someone run me down the full process of porting an armor mod from Fallout 4 into New Vegas with OS and get it working ingame? do I get it working with new vegas's rig inside Outfit Studio or do I do that in blender through an OBJ import/export somehow? madmongo
I'm a little fuzzy on how to get the armor out of FO4, but I think you can load it in Outfit Studio and export it as an obj. You'll lose the rigging at that point but you need to lose it anyway and re-rig it for FNV so that's actually what you want. You are correct that the nif tools for Blender 2.49b haven't been updated in ages and can't import FO4 meshes. Once you have the armor mesh in obj, I would load your desired body type nif into Blender, then import the armor obj. If the armor mesh has human body parts visible, delete those since you want to use your FNV body type instead. Scale and modify the armor as necessary in Blender to make it fit around your body type properly. Parent the armor's mesh (or meshes if it's more than one) to the armature/skeleton, then fix up the bone weights. Delete any human body parts that aren't visible, then select all and export. You'll need to go into NifSkope afterwards and fix up the shader type and shader flags since Blender won't export those properly. Other than the export from FO4, everything else is standard armor/clothing rigging, so any tutorials for that will help you fill in the details for all of that. There is an Outfit Studio port for FNV, but it's not very popular and I don't know how well it works and if all of its features work. Most people use Blender or 3ds Max for FNV.
