Suggestions for better lighting?

It's always been a pet peeve of mine about how unrealistic some of the vanilla lighting is for Fallout 4. I build a lightbulb hanging from a cord and it illuminates a room well enough. Everything gets illuminated and the brightness fades off further from the light source. But some of the more aesthetically pleasing light sources just...fall short. A large floor lap that illuminates the floor in a 2ft radius and completely dies off. Anyone with a desk lamp can tell you light doesn't work that way.

So I was wondering if anyone out there knows of a good mod that fixes this issue. I've seen a few that tackle the issue, but I was wondering if people felt there was one that works better than others.

That's personal taste. I like it dark inside and don't mind using flashlights or lanterns, others don't want it too dark. There are a lot of other things preference differs about. I presume you know this comparison: https://www.reddit.com/r/FalloutMods/comments/6jx3p7/fo4_comparison_of_different_light_mods/, you have to choose yourself. Weather and flora mods can affect the effects lighting have on you, too.

I currently use ELFX and Ultra Exterior Lighting, together with Darker Nights and Unified Commonwealth Weather, as well as Commonwealth Reclamation Project (which is Beta).

The ENB or Reshade, if you are using one, has big effects. I tried a lot of ENB, my favorite is Spirit ENB. I also like Dawn ENB. PRC on the other hand, with NAC or not, is not that much to my liking but a lot of people prefer it.

I downloaded Better Workshop Lights just a few days ago, and it's largely satisfied me so far as the terrible non-bulb-on-a-string workshop lights go. My only quibble with it is that it doesn't affect candles, oil lanterns, or fire barrels (the mod author explains that these use some kind of different system and they couldn't find an easy way to change them, though) - it's a quibble inasmuch as I was specifically hoping to improve those lights for my power-free build, and I didn't read properly. So far as the powered lights go, they've made a good difference - they light up further, and with less abrupt drop-offs. I've finally stopped having to clip regular lightbulbs inside the 'tech' lights!

There are a couple of other mods of this type you could try, but that one's worked for me, and it includes the DLC lights too.

I'm not sure if something like Enhanced Lights & FX would do anything to workshop lights or not - from what I understand of the description it only seems to make changes to existing light sources. I haven't been brave enough to try it yet, though.
