Vortex version 1.3.13

Modding Skyrim SE, but error occurs prior to game's relevance

No mods installed yet

Running on Windows 10 64x

Per the attached image, I am having a security issue.

This issue is happening the moment I launch the program after a clean install.

The file in question doesn't seem to even exist in my documents folder.

I have attempted to both turn off Ransomware and make exceptions for the entire vortex folder.

The issue still persists.

Please help!!!

This was solved on Discord.

For future reference, the reply that seems to have lead to the solution:

This very much looks like a file permission problem, as in: Your user account doesn't have write access to its own users directory on E:. Right click on the documents directory in e:\users\daniil\ and then click Properties->Security.
There you can see which account has which access rights to the directory. The error messages Vortex is giving would imply that "daniil" doesn't have write access.

The cause for this was probably that Windows got reinstalled recently.

In NTFS, every file is owned by a user account and by default is only writable by its owner.

When you reinstall windows that also creates new user accounts. Even if they are named the same, to Windows they are different, meaning the files and directories are still owned by the old account from the old windows and not by the new one.

The solution is to right-click the directory in question, properties -> security and in that dialog you can assign a new owner, as well as giving your account write access (which you can do if your account is administrator)
