Do console commands effect game?

I've finally been able to collect a basic set of mods I like and for some reason my game is lagging like crazy. I'm trying not to use too many mods, just a basic collection. I do use console commands for some cheats, I know...bad.

I use cheats for stimpacks if I'm going too low or get into trouble and the worst cheat I abuse is the ammo. The ammo is weightless so I carry a good amount, probably too much. Can it have an effect on gameplay? It hasn't before, so I don' think that's it, but I have no clue for the sudden change in my gameplay. The worst of the lag I get is when using my Pipboy. I do have a modded Pipboy, though that wasn't a problem in the past either.

The only new mods I'm using are armor mods. They're not crazy high resolution mods, so I don't think they'd be a problem. I'm stumped. I'm going to try BOSS to see if it helps. FNV Edit looks scary, I don't want to touch it since I don't really understand it yet and in it's description it says to "use at your own risk". Sounds like something I'd screw up.

So back to the basic question, are there console commands I should stay away from? I think I've read they can break your game, but I don't know.

Console commands that add ammo and stims (or any item) shouldn't lag the game. To be fair I've probably used nearly all the console commands and I've never had any problems with them. Try disabling any mods that you added recently to see if that fixes the lag. It might just be one very bloated esp that's causing your problems.

I reinstalled game and I left out as many mods as i could to still be happy. They add up fast. The only other thing I can think of, using FOMM, I've taken mods out of the game and continued with previous saves. Not sure if that was a problem. I tested my game when reinstalling every few mods I added. i have like 30 of them. That's not too bad, right? So far it seems ok, but I'm at level 2 so I guess we'll see how it goes.

I really love using the console cheats. I've never bought guns because of the dropped weapons and the mods used. Same goes for armor. I'd like to start using the work benches and fireplaces to craft, but the console stuff is too tempting. I'll just hope for the best. Thanks for the quick reply flamenx01.

30 mods is ok I think the game goes weird as you near 255 or something. After you remove a mod in FOMM launch the game, save then load that save it's meant to help somehow.

Since I use energy weapons I nearly always have to cheat for ammo (especially back in fallout 3) as it's so rare at the start.
