stan-wells
I'm new to Morrowind, just getting the original today. I understand there are some mods that are pretty much needed to run this. Any suggestions on which mods to start with would be appreciated.
Switch
er no... no mods are needed to run morrowind. but downloading the patches is a good idea, get them from: http://www.elderscrolls.com/index.php?url=...irect.htm&bg=05 apart from that there's nothing else u need 2 run morrowind make sure u download the patch for ur area of the world (america for inside america, european for anywhere else) and not one of the bloodmoon/tribunal patches as theyre for the expansions only. just download the latest normal morrowind patch for ur area
link
patches, and anything that takes your fancy. i like new guilds to broaden your profesion choices at the start of the game though
Switch
i strongly suggest against using any mods at the start of the game. it just spoils it.
link
on after though switch is probably right, you nead to get a clearer understanding of how the game works, and then download some stuff that YOU think will enrichen the gaming experience. thanateros
the problem with mods is that most of the time there are 10 bad mods for every good one. if you really want my advice i would spend a while exploring the game and getting a feel for. maybe join some guilds or a great house (which will take a long time) and you can always do the main quest (though not all character are nerevarine bound). then when you have gotten high up enough you want some new flavor go out and buy the expansions. bethseda did a great job with both of em and they are worth getting, best part is they aren't too expensive. but hold off from getting them until you have a mid to high lvl character because both are rather challenging (lvl 35+). i personally don't use too many other mods, other than the ones i make on my own for personal use to fix parts of the game that bother me. and the construction set isn't hard to pick up. but i'm getting ahead of myself; go out, explore the map and when you talk to people be sure to hit latest rumors and little secret because you never know when something interesting is going to come up worth persuing. not using the silt strider helps unless you're in a hurry to get somewhere because there are a lot of people on roadsides that will have small quests for you to do, some not so rewarding, other very rewarding.
