Jaege
I was wondering how to copy an idle. Is it possible? Like copying a texture or mesh? How could I move one or apply one to another mod?
Xaranth
If it's an idle, just make sure the .kf or .nif is where it aught to be, then in the geck go to Global > Idle Animations... and make a new one.
Jaege
What I want to do is use one of the ones already listed for NPC usage rather than reinvent the wheel, and make my own. Which would be far beyond my meager skill.
Xaranth
Uhm. Okay, I'm not sure exactly what you mean. Can you tell me more specifically what you want to do? Ideally, something like: "I want to add the pose pups05' from 'Pinup Poses' to my personal mod." (Just as an example, I have no idea if this or something like it is actually what you're after.) Jaege
I want to replace one of the animations in Reastloz's PC Idle mod with the npc smoking animation. In order to do that Reastloz told me I have to over-write her idle with the one I want to use. I just do not know how to "acquire" the idle I want in order to do that over-write. I can go to the Global; idle animations and see it, I just cannot copy it in order to over-write with it.
DizzasterJuice
In FOMM go to Tools, BSA extractor, then locate and extract the .kf for the smoking animation....probably search (bottom left corner) for smoke or smoking. Once you've extracted it you can re-name it and overwrite the file in the correct location.
Xaranth
Ahhhh. Okay. The critical record here is 'art file'. In Gameplay > Idle Animations... find the animation you want to overwrite, and change the art file to: Characters\_Male\IdleAnims\SmokingStanding.kf It might be easier to do this one in FNVEdit - Same principle, but in this case you want to change the MODL subrecord to Characters\_Male\IdleAnims\SmokingStanding.kf I say it's better to do it in FNVEdit because in the GECK you can only change it via file picker dialogue; you'd have to unpack the meshes BSA in the data folder. FNVEdit you can just type it in.

FNVedit or GECK wouldn't be necessary for this other than to identify the animation that he wants to replace.
Jaege
Thanks for all the input. I will give FOMM a try and see how it goes.
