Im running fallout 3 vanilla with the most recent patch on my HP probook. The probook has an i5 processor and has 4 gigs of ram. The game is should run fairly fine on medium settings. Anyways when i go to start my new game it loads for about 3 seconds then crashes. I forgot to mention i am running windows 7 professional on my school laptop (don't worry its ok)

Did you happen to look at the system requirements for Fallout 3? You are propably having a problem due to the fact that you do not have a dedicated graphics card as opposed to an integrated graphics chip.

well it auto detected my graphics card and set the game to medium quality and i have run this on a slightly less powerful laptop perfectly fine

looking up the information now:

Edit: ok looks Like I need just a tad more info, seems this line of note books , they produced a playing cards deck worth of darivitives, too many flavors to narrow down even by chance. IN tell Video chip sets are well known not to play nice with this game if at all, I have seen on such machine play all games except this one.

the nexus has a author whom has uploaded a dll file that is supposed to fix an audio glitch, it may also fix your problem too. ??

I'll go find the link for that,-> {HP ProBook 6560b LQ579...

these are what I found. just to get an idea of what you have. OR you can down load specy from Piraform.com and post a read out of your systems hardware in a Paste bin.com txt file, and link it in here.

that would hasten up things a bit.

Give that a shot first and keep a clean log as to what each step you take. Si if we need more information as to it not working, you will have it.

also try windowed mode, get fake full-screen after this process if it does not work, you can use window mode and have a full screen game, your not alone the the HP HD graphics bug. a lot of people have this issue.

it works! you've been amazing thank you for taking the time to help me!

I really am not here to give advice, but If I were? back it all up into an iso image, the whole works as you now have it. and store it safe some where. Off the main PC encase of hard drive corruption.

this saves days if not weeks of hair pulling.
