NexusKnight
I've run into a problem that I can't seem to correct. I've just uninstalled the new Mod Battlehorn Castle Upgraded by Jrugerstein. I followed the Uninstall instructions and re-installed the original DLC Fighter's Stronghold Mod. Everything seems okay except for the main gate which is showing up out of it's usual position. It's sitting inside the courtyard a little and elevated to one side!. The activator switch works, raising and lowering the gate, but the gate doesn't come close to sealing the entrance as it's still raised about 10 feet in the air. I've uninstalled the mod a couple of times but can't seem to fix this problem. I tried to do a 'clean' uninstall, but Wrye Bash shows up missing BhC masters. Anyone have any helpful ideas/suggestions? BTW: I have run into this type of problem in the past but I can't remember how I fixed it. Any help would be appreciated... thanks for your interest in this problem.
Hickory
You haven't performed a clean save/uninstall correctly. You need to uninstall (as per instructions) the upgraded mod, then enter the game and go to another area completely, then wait for four full days -- BEFORE you reinstall the DLC. Save your game, then exit to the desktop. Install the new DLC, then rebuild your Bashed Patch.
NexusKnight
The uninstall instructions are as follows... 1) Delete DLCBattlehornCastle.esp.2) Restore your old DLCBattlehornCastle.esp from backup.3) Remove the UPGMeshes folder from /Data/Meshes, the UPGTextures folder from /Data/Textures, the dlcbattlehorncastle.esp folder from Sounds/Voices, and the UPGIcons Folder from Textures/Menus/Icons/Armor.I did all this, but as you pointed out I messed up the 'clean' save and I didn't wait at all because it wasn't included in the instructions and because I didn't know about this. Thanks for educating me, but I was in a completely different area, so that's okay. So, I guess I should re-install the BhC Upgrade mod again because it seems to be in my save file (according to WB) and try it again? This time I will follow your instructions to the letter. Thanks for the quick reply it's really appreciated.
NexusKnight
Okay, this is really getting weird now Hickory - I can't believe this is happening (and it's a little complicated so please bear with me). I'm still trying to un-install Battlehorn Castle Upgrade and I begin doing what you've suggested - for now I've de-activated the mod... I know what you're thinking but please read on... I get to the point of doing a save without the BhC Upgrade mod active, and I get an unrelated crash after the successful save. No problem I'm thinking I'll just start again as I wanted to check to see if the mod was completely gone, however when I started up the game it crashed instantly. Uh-oh, that's a missing master problem right? I check in Obmm and the BhC mod is active again! So, I deactivate it again and re-bash the patch again but after I get this error message popping up from Python... wxPython: stdout/stderr Traceback (most recent call last):File "bash\basher", line 7618, in ExecuteFile "bash\basher", line 1787, in RefreshUIFile "bash\basher", line 951, in PopulateItemsFile "bash\basher", line 1823, in PopulateItemFile "bash\bolt", line 1211, in getmtimeFile "genericpath.pyo", line 54, in getmtimeWindowsError: [Error 2] The system cannot find the file specified: u'C:\\GameFolder\\Bethesda Softworks\\Oblivion\\Data\\DLCBattlehornCastle.esp.ghost' (Python can't find DLCBattlehornCastle.esp.ghost because it un-ghosted itself somehow!) Okay, so I de-activate the mod again in Obmm and start up the game and successfully start from my clean save but then I get a freeze up and have to quit. Well, here we go again, when I try to restart OB, it crashes instantly again. Battlehorn Castle has become re-activated and I have to re-bash it again to continue!!! WTF is going on? Anyone, care to explain what's happening? I'm almost at the point of re-installing everything for the 6th time :`( BTW Hickory: Before you tell me that I should have uninstalled Battlehorn completely, I've already tried that and it doesn't work for me. As I said in my original post, Wrye Bash shows up BhC as a missing master and the game won't start for me to get a 'clean' save, even after bashing. I was trying to at least de-activate the mod to get a save, before attempting to uninstall it to see if that worked. Without 'ghosting' checked... To make things worse, the last time I bashed the patch with Battlehorn de-activated, I decided to uncheck 'ghosting' to see if that helped, and then watched the Masters list in Wrye Bash to see if the mod would still re-instate itself, and just as my cursor was hovering over WB's exit button, that damn mod activated itself before my eyes. So this time, I unchecked it in WB and it disappeared from the list completely along with the bashed patch file (but it did remain inactive in Obmm)! The bashed patch disappears from Wrye Bash... hey am I on camera or something? In my 2 1/2 yrs of playing I've never experienced any weirdness like this before. Back to square one... despite having a save from the de-activated mod and even with Battlehorn uninstalled now, WB is still showing the evil mod as a missing master (even all my save files are Red). My game won't start and I'm beginning to think I can't keep the mod uninstalled. I was better off with just a mis-aligned gate, at least I could play the game. I'm clean out of ideas right now Hickory. Do you have any idea what's going on so I can get rid of Battlehell Castle? Hickory
I cannot stress this strongly enough: do NOT use OBMM to manage your mods, other than installing OMODs. Never, ever, use it to sort load order, deactivate plugins (other than uninstall OMODs), etc. Use BOSS and Wrye Bash, and MAKE SURE that OBMM is closed once you have used it for the only thing it is good for (installing OMODs), and before using BOSS and/or Wrye Bash. Now then, regarding your missing master in the Bashed Patch: right click on it and select 'File >> Delete'. Now right click anywhere in the plugin window and select 'File >> Create New Bashed Patch' -- the wording might be different, as I don't have Wrye Bash active at this time. Sometimes a Bashed Patch retains data that doesn't get cleaned out, and WB has no way of knowing if this is the case, hence the new patch. This should alleviate your missing master AFTER you have completely removed BhC -- you *must* do this after removing it, or you are beating your head up a wall. Your call. NexusKnight
The final update to this is a little tardy as I've been dealing with other RL issues, but now I'm back on track. Thanks to your excellent advice, Hickory, I've been able to resolve this issue. Thank you, my original DLC Battlehorn Castle is now fully functional again. Keep up the excellent work.
