DrEngagedGolem
Yesterday, I had uploaded a mod to the Nexus called "Desert Soul Radio." A few hours later, it had been taken down for "Copyright Infringement." I'll post the full reason: "Reason: Inclusion of copyrighted material." The only question I have - Why had my mod been taken down when countless others have the same type of music? I had credited the artists' music, and was using this mod for non-commercial use. At the same time, the majority of the songs had come from CDs or stock sites. Again, I would just like my mod to be uploaded again. I'm not trying to do anything illegal. VictoriaG
Copyrighted music is copyrighted no matter what your intentions were you need permission to use it first.
TheVampireDante
I explained this to you already when you replied to my notice about the file removal. You just gave credit to the artists - that does not mean you have permission to use it. I made this very clear.
Thandal
(Besides the fact that depending on the exact terms of use for the various pieces involved, what you are doing probably is illegal) The Terms of Service on the Nexus mean you can't do it here: Nexus sites have quite a liberal content policy on what files are acceptable on the site but there are still rules all uploaders must adhere to. Failure to adhere to these rules will result in the file being removed from the site, the uploader's account being banned and if necessary all the details of the uploader being passed on to relevant authorities:Absolutely no copyrighted work is to be used without permission of the original creator. This includes content from other games, from DLCs, music creators or from other file authors. This also includes members from countries that do not recognise copyright laws (such as Russia). All files uploaded must have been created by the uploader or used with permission from the original author of the content. If you cannot provide proof of consent when asked then your file will be removed and your account is likely to be banned.-and-If you see a file that breaches these rules it does not mean that file has been allowed to remain by the Nexus staff and that all files of similar content are OK. Nexus staff might not have seen the file so report the file if you are unsure. Not to mention the terms you have to explicitly acknowledge every time you upload a file:I testify that all the content in the files I am going to upload are my own or are used with the express permission of the original creators of the files I have used and I have properly credited the original creators in my ReadMe, and in the mod description or in the "Credits" text area of the "Distribution permission" section of this page. I understand and accept that I will be banned from this site if I am found to be lying about this. So, what part of any of those is hard to understand? Or is that you didn't read the ToS and checked the "I testify..." box just as blindly, and are now whinging when it turns out that the rules really do apply to you too? Consider yourself lucky that The Vampire Dante only removed your file, and not your account.
