I have been using mods for Fallout 4 for about a month, but when I went to get some new ones, I keep getting this error:

Error: Exception: Could not load file or assembly 'System.Core, Version=4.0.0.0, Culture=neutral, PublicKeyToken=b77a5c561934e089' or one of its dependencies. The module was expected to contain an assembly manifest.

Now I have tried reinstall my old mods, and I get the same error.
Does anyone know how to fix this?

The Error message says that the assembly System.Core can't be loaded. Since it's part of the base .Net Framework (which ships with Windows), the only explanation that that is kaput.

The fix is to reinstall/update .Net Framework but if you have any idea how it got broken in the first place that would be super helpful.

Hello,

Appreciate the quick response. I am unsure of how it got broken, and I am also unclear as to how I can recognize this is damaged, besides this issue with the Vortex mod manager. I have never encountered an issue with .Net Framework (nor do I know too much about it. However I am looking into it now!)
