JebstoneBoppman
Hey guys, I've been having some issues with CTDs since a recent reformat/upgrade to Windows 7 (I don't know what took me so long either)I had your odd CTD here and there prior to my reformat, nothing too bad or out of the ordinary - however - since the reformat my CTDs are quite constant and have become somewhat of a nuisance as it's making it hard to play the game. Quick history:I was using all of the same mods I was prior to the reformat (with their most up to date versions[ with the exception of Immersive Armors and Weapons as I could no longer install them via NMM as it would have the memory error, which was never a problem before??]) and added some new ones (mostly visual mods). Initially the game would CTD right on the loading screen so I went back to the drawing board. Took off the Vanilla HiRes pack esps, and the game no longer CTDed immediately but would still crash soon into starting a new game (usually when the Horse Thief began to speak, or shortly after while entering Helgen)So I began the tried and true troubleshooting steps of process of elimination by first getting rid of all the new mods that weren't around prior to my reformat one by one. I eventually widdled it down to roughly what I had before with a couple new ones (follower mods). I was now able to play past the intro and make my way into Whiterun - where the CTDs began again - especially around The Companion's hall and just outside of town. I figured I'll simply just uninstall and re-install every remaining mod from scratch and delete all my save games and start fresh again. Doing this all seemed well until I got to Whiterun again and the same issue (actually it's so bad now that I get to the same spot in front of the gates and it CTDs)I've wracked my head trying to figure out what's causing the issue, I've confirmed my GPU/CPU/Case isn't overheating causing CTDs, I've confirmed I'm not suffering a RAM leak or any other possible hardware/firmware issues that I can find. So now I turn to the experts to see if they can point out what I've been doing wrong. Here is my current mod list in NMM in Load Order (ordered via BOSS) Skyrim.esmUpdate.esmClimatesOfTamriel.esmSPIKE.esmUnofficial Skyrim Patch.espChesko_Frostfall.espSupreme Fog.espStaticMeshImprovementMod.espChesko_WearableLantern.espLanterns on the Roads(50% less lanterns).espSignTown_by_YURIL_1o5.espFootprints.espCloaks.esp1nivWICCloaks.esp1nivWICSkyCloaksPatch.esphottrooper44_ArmorCompilation.espDr.Bandolier.espSyerscote.espGuard Dialogue Overhaul.espImmersive Weapons.espPinewood Village.espRealisticRoomRental.espCrimson Tide - Blood.espdD-No Spinning Death Animation.esp3DNPC.espRealsiticNeedsandDiseases.espRND_USKP-Patch.espHothFollower.espAtvir.espCompanionValfar.espOdvar.espgetSnowy.espWATER.espWATER Plants.espRND_Water-Patch.esp Papyrus Log*Ok so for some reason im not getting any reports to generate even though I have the correct Papyrus script in my .ini - so I'll update this thread with the error report once I get it sorted out. Georgiegril
My guess is that in the course of your uninstalling all mods and then reinstalling, you ended up with some orphaned scripts, or something similar. Personally I think the fasted way to solve your problem would probably be to start with a complete uninstallation of all of skyrim (including all the mods and savegames but also the game files that are removed with the steam delete local content thing. Then reinstall the game and make sure NMM and Steam are all recognizing your computer properly. Then start a new game, don't add any mods at all until after the exit from the cave at helgen. At that point add mods slowly, one or two at a time-- each time reread everything on the mod page, looking especially from requirements and compatibility issues as well as proper installation. Run BOSS, read the log file and address any messages it gives you. Play a while to make sure it is working and then add one or 2 more, using the same process. That way, if a problem does resurface, you will know exactly what you changed and will have a much easier time fixing it. Anyway, that's what I would do. Hope it helps! MX8864
I also have a question about ctd's and freezes. In my case they happen pretty often but the log ALWAYS says "Property ActorTypeDwarven on script nAddonStatsScript attached to Active effect 1 on (001071A9) cannot be initialized because the script no longer contains that property" or "DLC2PillarBuilderActorScript < (040177DB)>]OnPackageStart()" but mostly the first one. Does anyone know what these scripts belong to or wich mods could have influenced them? Thank you. Edited March 7, 2013 by MX8864
