MercerMeka
Hi, I've made 3 new creatures imp, Dreugh and a wisp. Only the wisp will cast the new spells I've given them.I gave them low cost Lesser Powers. No matter what I try the imp and Dreugh won't cast the new spells.Does anyone have any ideas how to fix this? Oblivionaddicted
Do they cast the other spells? Are these spells on touch or targeted?
MercerMeka
No other spells. I've tried giving them multiple spells but that also didn't work. They do have abilities (e.g default vanilla imp waterwalking ability)The abilities are target for imp and touch for Dreugh, just as they usually use. The spells have several effects but so does the working wisp spell.I've tried adding the spells via leveled list to no avail. Tharkun221
Hi,I've had the same issue in the past. Created new NPCs, added custom spells to their inventory and they (mostly) never used them. I don't know if it's whats you're looking for, but you can force them to use a spell with a script using the Cast command. I use a token with the Cast script that gets added to any actor that needs that ability.
DrakeTheDragon
Hmm, I'm far from an expert when it comes to combat AI and an actor's choice of attack, but additionally make sure your creatures also have the casting animations needed for the types of casts they are to do.I figured out very early, but after a hell of a lot of debugging around, that you cannot have a creature cast spells, or do any other action for that matter, if they're lacking the animation(s) for that. When creating new custom creatures, or from copying existing ones, this is one step all too easily overlooked. MercerMeka
Thanks for the comments, guys. I've been testing more various things and it seems that some magical effects don't work. I had some "Weakness to X" effects which after I removed them from the spells those spells now work. It's a bit disappointing not to be able to use certain effects, but I'm glad now it finally works.
