Aresylus
So as of recently, I decided to take a leap and venture deeper into the world of modding by taking up the use of Blender. My intention was to experiment and create armors, weapons, ect. but in the course of doing so I've reached a troubling road-block so-to-speak. For some reason I can't seem to get the file extensions for .nif files to appear in the import menu of blender. Prior to this post, I forum hopped, and ransacked google for answers, and have tried a number of different things. Yes, I did install nif script, python, and PyFFI (granted I wasn't sure whether I have the appropriate versions, as I tried many different ones ;/) I'd rather not get into how many times I've attempted re-installing, restarting, and otherwise trying my best not to pull my hair out. I post this in hopes of someone else having had shared in my plight, and are willing to lend a hand. Links to the most recent and working version would be extremely helpful, and any suggestions will be noted, and deeply appreciated.P.S. - Sorry if this is in the wrong section, wasn't sure if the troubleshooting thread covered this issue. Aresylus
Now it says that the Blender Nif Scripts for 2.5.9 aren't supporting Skyrim, would that cause any issues? Or will downloading a slightly older version suffice? Edit - Problems all sorted, you were a fantastic help. I know it was simple, but believe me you saved me from hours more of searching and frustration. Thanks again! neomonkeus
It does not officially support Skyrim, there is no official version that does. However there are various tutorials out there that have a workaround that involves removing all the Skyrim specific information/blocks which will allow import, then adding them back on export to work with Skyrim. Think its time you go improve your Google-fu again.
TolarisOmega
I've been hoping to see Skyrim support for Blender for quite a while.I did a little bit of looking around, but don't see much of a roadmap.Any idea as to when it might be in beta stage? Thanks for all your hard work.
neomonkeus
My sig contains the links you are looking for. The "latest news" link, links to the blender development sub-forum with several stickied topics including a Roadmap. It is well worth a read of the General FAQ to get a good overview of how the plugin works, how its been converted to run with Blender 2.6+ and also development process. As for beta stage, unfortunately we are a long way off, we are currently working towards pre-alpha 3. Finding time to devote to development is unfortunately very difficult. That said we are making lots of progress at the moment. Dev builds for pre-alpha 2 are available with basic support, but if you can't take the time to read documentation we won't take the to respond to any posts about it. Oh, and it is really easy for us to spot those who obviously haven't read the documentation. Usually trying to import unsupported features.
