I'm a huge SH fan so if you want I can help with keeping things true to the style of SH. I felt SH 2 and 3 were the superior games of the series *because* of the apparently dated gameplay. SH4 tried to do too much different and suffered because of it (no flashlight? Lame.) Good story, poo gameplay. If you actually want to make this mod, I would suggest using the first three games as your references. Again is this meant to be a proper storyline mod or just an extra location? I don't have any actual modding experience but would love to learn.

PLEASE don't put Pyramid Head in this mod! Yes I know he was a cool enemy but he was very particular to the plot of SH2. His presence in the movie absolutely ruined it for me. It just seems to be an unnecessary fan service device to draw people in. I suggest designing some new monsters, not just copies from the games. I guess it is pretty hard to come up with a character driven story like SH though, so I guess it's a lot easier to use existing designs. Please no PH, he has no place outside of SH2.

Well, actually he has. He's the Executioner, you know. So whenever there's someone who sinned, the PH will/might appear as some sort of punisher. In SH2, he had a very symbolic role of James self-accusement.

In the movie, his purpose is abit strange and I also believe that the director used him for the fans, but I actually enjoyed his appearence even though it was abit off-topic(but many things are off-topic in silent hill as you already know).

 

The only sin the team of this mod can do is creating PH and naming him Bogeyman... I still wonder who came up with that silly idea...

Yeah of course Im going to include PH, sorry. And of course some new enemies will be designed but SH is a Dimension, that has his own style and own way, also PH is in SH5 Homecoming so ...

 

I think is not a bad idea, dont keep your mind in the past (like those people who hates Oblivion and deeply loves Morrowind) who cares? Not me, this are just games, entertainment. Of course they are cool and they are good games, they have a good plot and story, thats great! But theyre not more than a bunch of 3D models alltogheter working under scripts, dont ever forget that. The real darkness is even more dark, the real SH is even more scary. Whats is real? Thats the question, are you real?

Pyramid Head was in SH5 and the Movie because he's iconic, people go "Oh Pyramid Head!" and they get sucked in.

 

But he doesn't fit into either of those stories. His role was in SH2, and he was done. There's a reason Konami never brought him back.

 

Same thing with the nurses - who now serve as some bizarre sex appeal rather than the warped memories of a tormented little girl - their purpose was served and they shouldn't have been brought back.

 

Sincerely, you don't need him.

 

Honestly, it'd be creepier and better-fitting to use modified Fallout creatures. It's still Fallout, but it's got that Silent Hill bent to it.

 

Failing that, just use entirely new creatures. Build them around your story, let them represent its themes and link to it somehow. Give them meaning beyond "lol pyramid head is awesome raperaperaperape."

If I may make a suggestion, the Trogs from The Pitt mod would probably make some good enemies once retextured. Perhaps more of a charred, bloody apperiance?

Swarm of those in a dark tunnel/hallway with glowing red'ish eyes, maybe add a shreak or something? *Shrugs* Just my 2 cents.
