Crabcatcher
I was just wondering whether this was possible to do with the Geck? Can you give melee and unarmed the ability to aim for specific body parts in Vats, like you would with a gun? Also, adding extra body parts to aim for?Having Eyes and Groin to aim for again would be awesome.Especially with a custom groin, male only, animation when hit there. Without body part aiming unarmed, not sure about melee haven't used it much, is really gimped.
Strofkocz
would be really awesome, I've always wanted to aim melee weaps, and more body parts would be cool, fingers would be cool, hard to hit, but almost 100% disarm
yagya
don't mean to revive a potentially dead topic, but i feel this is a mod that should be very important to the Fallout community. This was the first thing i didn't understand once i tried VATS'ing enemies outside the vault. "Why can't i target limbs?" and i was a bit let down that i couldn't shoot people's eyes or groin. is it at all possible to let unarmed/melee target limbs? how much hassle is it to add new VATS areas? is VATS moddable outside of damage given and received while in it? arkus
I too would love this as its the one reason i have not played a melee character,In regards to eyes and groin, there have been topics discussing adding extra vats zones, apparently the game only allows for 7 zones : Head, body, l arm, r arm, l leg, r leg, and weapon. To create a targetable groin you would have to move one of the other zones. The lack of melee aiming looks to be something that is hard wired in the game, as im sure if it were possible a mod would have been produced by now.I do however hope that one day a programming god will pass these forums to save our day.Arkus
yagya
what's with limiting our options, be it the menu for building weapons to vats zones. come on bethesda, give us 100% control over modding this game. may a coding god come to our rescue with a way to make these 2 things a reality. TGBlank
It's... rather complex.Melee vats targeting is hardwired.. To bypass it, you need to trick the weapon into the game as if it where a ranged gun.The problem with this are 3:- it means only 1 attack animation- it is a per-weapon thing: you can make A melee weapon with vats limb targeting.. but you can't make ALL of them behave as such this way.- It looks frigging ugly As for groin/eyes... sorry, it's too hardcoded to take a lunge at it. NaboeN
Kill me if you don't like it, but how about making L arm and R arm into Arms? And L leg and R leg into legs, that opens up two whole slots, giving us the ability to add both Eyes and groin
TGBlank
That's not the only hardcoded piece. There are 7 AV detrimental effects, with each of the 7 part groups tied to one of the AVs. All of the parts inside a group share health, highlight when on vats, and are dismembered (all of them) at the same time when the group is destroyed. They also share group part health -> creature hp ratio. If you join the two legs, and give the extra av to the groin, crippling the legs would cause "left mobility damage", and crippling the groin would cause "right mobility damage".This gets more complex with arms and chances of disarming. yagya
what a silly thing to hardcode like that. especially when they said they had us modders in mind. don't get me wrong, the GECK and mods in general have upped the replay value of this game through the roof, but it's something like this that makes me scratch my head. why have such limits on VATS and menu lists? TGBlank
It makes implementation easier, which means less time of head scratching for them, and more time dedicated to populating the place or building other things. In any moddable game, if you scratch deep enough, you'll always find hardcoded pieces.
