post-combat cooldown research

Something that has been bothering me about XCOM has been that the system never has you thinking about more then 6 guys, ever, for equipment and such.

Is anyone interested in helping research for creating a kind of quasi-wounded state that soldiers shall be in after every battle where say for a period of X days their equipment can't be changed/removed and they can't go on missions either.

If this is possible it'll probably be in XcomStrategyGame.XGFacility_Barracks. This is my most advanced idea yet, and I do intend to share my findings.

Unfortunately, as I haven't found any LockLoadout.kSoldier this might be immensly difficult.

Searching through XGFacility_Lockers now...

Unfortunately this is way, way beyond me as I'd probably have to make stuff up from scratch and create an entirely new 'State' for soldiers to be in as smuggling it into the wounded or psi trainnig code would cause way too many problem :S

There's actually some stuff in the code that suggests this was considered for vanilla, so you may have a starting point. Soldiers have "energy" that's referred to in XGFacility_Barracks.

And check out XComeGame.upk, XGStrategySoldier ... particularly the enumerations and default values -- there are codes for "tired" and "exhausted" soldiers.

I personally find that the ability to swap armors between characters is a bit immersion-breaking, particularly given how "fitted" some of the later armors are and how distinctly different a few of the physiques are *ahem*.

I don't know if it would be possible to tie a particular armor to a particular character (and if the died it would be destroyed / unavailable) nor how it would be balanced in terms of resources.

@ johnnylump: that'd be so cool if confirmed to work

@Amineri: that's a bit harsh but it'd be great as well

Meanwhile, some work aounds: setting soldiers hp to 5 and making default armors give +0 hp, so even 1 dam hits incur in wound. I havent tested it proprly but it should accomplish the same purpouse early in the game, specially facing thin men and their plague ability... a week sick in bed....

If what I suggested elsewhere could be accomplished and soldiers could gain will per kill and per month, maybe a will penalty per mission could somehow accomplish that as well as giving the player the choice if whether pushing the soldier to the limit or giving him some rest, just a thought
