TheMrMeatWhip
I seem to be crashing only in Windhelm and I have no idea whats causing it. I tried disabling mods but nothing worked. The only mods that I have that would effect the city in anyway are Open Cities and Guard Overhaul and texture mods, but like I said it's only Windhelm that has the issue. My PC's specs are RTX 3070i7 1070016 GB RAM And I have it installed on a HDD currently. As I said it is only Windhelm that has issues, other than that I haven't even had a single frame drop under 60fps anywhere around the map. My load order is: Skyrim.esm Update.esm Dawnguard.esm HearthFires.esm Dragonborn.esm Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp Skyrim Project Optimization - Full Version.esm RealisticWaterTwo - Resources.esm SkyUI_SE.esp Obsidian Weathers.esp SMIM-SE-Merged-All.esp CBBE.esp icepenguinworldmapclassic.esp EnhancedLightsandFX.esp Book Covers Skyrim.esp iNeed.esp iNeed - Extended.esp Skyrim Immersive Creatures Special Edition.esp Obsidian Mountain Fogs.esp The Great City of Winterhold.esp TouringCarriages.esp The Great City of Falkreath.esp The Great City of Dawnstar.esp Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp Hothtrooper44_Armor_Ecksstra.esp Immersive Weapons.esp iHUD.esp TouringCarriages-Oakwood.esp Oakwood.esp TKAA.esp GuardsArmorsAndWeapons.esp 1nivWICCloaks.esp RaceMenu.esp RaceMenuPlugin.esp KS Hairdo's.esp MikanEyes All in one SE.esp SkyHUD.esp aMidianBorn_Book of Silence.esp Guard Overhaul - Equality Patch.esp Beards.esp CommunityOverlays2_31T50.esp Wolfpaint_Face.esp UFO - Ultimate Follower Overhaul.esp Bijin NPCs.esp Bijin Wives.esp Bijin Warmaidens.esp Serana.esp JK's Belethor's General Goods.esp JK's Warmaiden's.esp JK's Dragonsreach.esp JK's Riverwood.esp The Great City of Morthal.esp 360WalkandRunPlus-RunBackwardSpeedAdjust.esp Headtracking.esp SleepTight.esp Inigo.esp JK's Sleeping Giant Inn.esp JK's The Bannered Mare.esp JK's Arcadia's Cauldron.esp JK's Riverfall Cottage.esp Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp JKs The Drunken Huntsman.esp JK's SkyHaven Forge.esp Apocalypse - Magic of Skyrim.esp VWA_VanillaWarpaintsAbsolution.esp Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim.esp Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp CollegeOfWinterholdImmersive.esp CWIEnLFXSEPatch.esp CWIOrdinatorPatchSSE.esp CWISPOPatchSE.esp Immersive Citizens - ELFXEnhancer patch.esp Relationship Dialogue Overhaul.esp TheChoiceIsYours.esp Immersive Horses.esp TouringCarriages-ICAIO.esp Open Cities Skyrim.esp ELFX - Hardcore.esp ENB Light.esp RealisticWaterTwo.esp All mods were installed using Mod Organiser 2 and I have sorted the load order using LOOT and I have validated all files and Steam didn't find any issues. I have also installed Skyrim 2020 Parallax Textures and Rudy ENB which were installed manually so they're not in the load order. Does anyone know what might be causing the crash and how I can fix it? Algabar
If the game always crashes in the same location, there's probably an issue with that place. Unfortunately this could be anything: A bugged quest or an NPC, also maybe some corrupted or messed up textures or meshes. It could also be a mod conflict that affects Windhelm. You can download "nif scan" and let it check your Skyrim SE folder. Although it's on the Skyrim LE NExus, "nif scan" works for SE, too. It shoudl find damaged texture or mesh files at least. If that doesn't help, the usual process is to disable or better uninstall mods one by one and test, until you found the culprit. Long and tedious, I know. But maybe necessary... nt5raham
@TheMrMeatWhip, you said, "The only mods that I have that would effect the city in anyway are Open Cities and Guard Overhaul and texture mods," but there are other possibilities in your load order. Anything done within the cell where your CTD happens can be the culprit. For example, you have several NPC mods, like Bijin and Immersive Citizens. They affect NPCs in Windhelm. I'm not saying those particular mods are the problem, but rather encouraging you to broaden your view. Google "Skyrim COC Windhelm" or go to this website and try going to other specific areas of Windhelm to see if you can narrow down which particular cell has the problem (or if it is more widespread). You may find that going in the main gate causes CTD, but exiting from Candlehearth Hall does not. In case you are not familiar with it, COC is a console command (Center On Cell) that will "teleport" you to specific locations. You can Google any location in Skyrim and probably get a COC code (cell name). As @Algabar said, If there is, for example, an NPC native to that cell that has missing assets, it could cause CTD. It may require disabling more mods than just what you think in order to narrow it down. The results are sometimes surprising. "Wow, I didn't think that mod would cause that CTD." Save corruption could also be the cause, so you can test with a brand new game and see if it still CTD. You can use COC right from Helgen if you want, so you don't have to walk all the way to Windhelm. BTW, you may find it helpful to use spoiler tags when posting something really long so people don't have to scroll so much.
