deathbystagelight
This is my first time installing mods, and I'm prrrrretty sure I'm doing something wrong. I got FOMM and FOSE, but anytime I try to launch FOSE from FOMM it says "fose does not appear to be installed". I copy and pasted all the FOSE files where they're supposed to be (and actually moved them into the Fallout 3 data file--pppprobably should not have done that without knowing it's what I'm supposed to do), so I'm not sure what the f*#@'s going on there. Another problem I'm having is that I'll open FOMM's "package manager," log in, and it'll show the two mods I'm trying to install. It tells me that my mods have been successfully activated, but then they don't show up in the main FOMM window with the rest of my DLCs. I've reactivated them about forty times, they're checked off and everything, but nothing is happening. I have ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated activated too, so I hope it isn't that. I've read that I can have problems with mods if my game is installed to my Programs folder on Windows 7, but I thought I could override those problems by turning off UAC? Does that not...work? I don't know. Sorry for all the very ~nontechnical~ language: like I said, this is my first time trying anything like this.
M48A5
FOSE does not belong in the Fallout 3/Data. It goes in Fallout 3, the same location that has Fallout3.exe. As for the mods showing they are activated and not showing in the main FOMM window, you did not install the mods correctly. Do not use the stand alone ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!. If you downloaded it, uninstall it and use the one included in FOMM. You cannot use both. You will have problems with any mod that changes anything in Fallout 3 if Fallout 3 is loaded in the program files unless you deactivate the UAC. A better solution is to uninstall Fallout 3 and re-install it in a location outside of Program Files. Also, you do not have to "Log In" to use FOMM. You should deactivate the Log In since FOMM no longer has a function that looks for updated mods. You do this by left click "Settings" and than uncheck the box next to "Check for new FOMod versions"
deathbystagelight
I uninstalled ArchiveInvalidation and deactivated the login--had no idea FOMM came with its own ArchiveInvalidation, that's very cool. I turned off UAC yesterday, should I still uninstall and reinstall the game? And if I didn't install the mods correctly, I have no idea what I did wrong. M48A5
The best thing to do read the installation instructions, either in the ReadMe or the mod page. Which two mods are giving you a problem?
deathbystagelight
Project Beauty and Fallout Re-Animated. They're both extremely popular, so I'm positive it's user error.
deathbystagelight
I'm also still getting the "fose does not appear to be installed" error with FOMM, even though I've put all the folders in the right place.
M48A5
In regards to FOSE, did you extract the .7z files before you copied and pasted them into the Fallout 3 folder?Project Beauty, aka Fallout 3 Redesigned, cannot be installed and activated with FOMM. You have to do a manual install, as it says on the mod page. If you do it correctly, the .esp will show up on the main FOMM screen.Fallout 3 Re-Animated does not have any .esm or .esp and will not show up in any part of FOMM.For ArchiveInvalidation Invalidated!, start FOMM. At the top of the FOMM interface will be some tabs. Left click on "Tools". In the drop down at the bottom is "Archive Invalidation". Make sure there is a check mark to the left. If there is not, left click to the left and answer "yes" to Apply Archive Invalidation.
deathbystagelight
I did extract the FOSE files before copying and pasting them into the FO3 folder, yeah. ArchiveInvalidation is go, too. I manually installed Project Beauty and it shows up in FOMM's list now, but in-game my character is showing up as a giant red exclamation point. She's inside there, but she's bald. I noticed the author addressed this on Project Beauty's page and apparently it means a mesh installed incorrectly, but I didn't f*#@ around with anything inside the "HD" folder--I just dragged it into the FO3 Data folder. Did I do something wrong?
Makski
look on youtube for Gopher's Modding Fallout 3 video part 7. He uses NMM, but he does show how to download them & do the install. You might want to watch the whole series. Sure they're long, but he shows ya how to get mods into the game. Has a lot of good tips as well. I still go to his vids when I load FO3, just to make sure I've got everything stable with the major mods.
deathbystagelight
I actually watched a couple of his videos earlier today, and now all my mods are working together flawlessly. I should have downloaded NMM days ago--would've saved me a lot of hassle, haha. Thanks, though! And thank you, too, M48A5!
