Rikimaru08
Hi there. I would like to know if it is possible to create a complex standalone follower. the follower should arise from a Race Menu Preset which contains some mods such as KS hairdos, tattoos, high poly head and so on. Also the question would be whether you can add something to the character, such as horns to the head.I've tried it myself with turtorials, but a noob can't do it :)The mods used should (I hope) not be a problem because the follower is intended for my own use. saurusmaximus
I have used this video as a guide to make a standalone follower with great success in the past. Be aware that it was made for LE Skyrim, so when you get to the end of the video and they use Nifmerge to make the head, you will instead need to recreate the head in Nifskope (it's not as hard as it sounds) if you are doing this in SSE. Here is a guide for that process. I will add that I've never messed around with hi-poly heads, so I don't know if there is anything extra that needs to be done there. One thing to add about KS Hairdos: many of the hairstyles use 2 hairlines, and you need to use both of them, otherwise your follower's hair will be transparent. Tattoos are just overlays that go over the skin textures, so adding those would just be a matter of finding the tattoos that you like, and using those textures when you put together your skin textures. I've never used horns, but I know there are mods that make equipable horns (they are treated like a helmet by the game), so you could just put a set of those in the follower's inventory and they would equip them like any other piece of clothing. The mods used should (I hope) not be a problem because the follower is intended for my own use. Correct, as long as you don't share it, you can use whatever mods you want. Rikimaru08
Thank you for the answer and also for the tips and links. I will try it again with the linked tutorials. My last try ended up with a follower who didn't have the tattoos or the right face. Nearly...but wrong.at least the hair was right :)
Algabar
Tattoos are difficult. Since you can't use Racemenu overlays on a follower, you would have to create new body textures with the tattoos. You need software like Photoshop or GIMP (free) for this. Basic workflow would be:- Open the body texture you want to use in Photoshop or GIMP.- Find the texture file you want to use as a tattoo.- Import/drag it as a separate layer into the body texture file.- Find a blending/overlay method that works.- Position/adjust the tattoo- Save the body texture in .dds format (both Photoshop and GIMP require special plugins for that) In fact, it isn't that easy. The body texture is flat, but in game it is wrapped around the body. So tattoos often look "distorted" in game. I know some people even use professional 3D sculpting/painting software like "mudbox" to apply tattoos. On a side note: For an easy workaround, you could create a follower without tattoos and mange her with EFF. EFF has an option to use Racemenu overlays on followers. Probably the easiest way to get whant you want.
