I have been playing Skyrim for few months, and I really like it. At the beginning, I rarely got ctd, I could play smooth for hours, but now my game got random crash more often everytime I start a combat (Yes. It got crash only when Im fighting with something)
I tried to re-install, start and play a new-clean-game without any mods, but it wouldnt fix the ctd problem.
This is few last line in Papyrus log with lots of DialogueSwapGovernmentAliasesScript errors before my game crashed. Like this:

[03/17/2013 - 08:47:32PM] Error: Cannot call IsInFaction() on a None object, aborting function call
stack:

My guess is that you have an orphaned script, or some corruption.

When you reinstalled, did you remove not only those files that are removed by the Steam Delete Local Content, but also go through and remove any files left in your computer related to skytim (For example, savegames and Mod files)?

Also, after reinstalling skyrim, did you verify the game files on steam? Sometimes a reinstall is not complete, for whatever reason.

So you are seeing crashes with only a pristine copy of vanilla skyrim, no mods, no dlc, no changes to .ini files, etc?

If that is the case, then I would look at your memory--both RAM and VRAM. You might possibly be crashing because your computers resources are being overwhelmed by the combat. Since you have played successfully in the past, I would look at things like a bad memory stick, though you might also look to see if you can play with the lowest graphics settings. Have you tried basic computer maintenance, like disk clean-up, defrag, etc?
