CTD after certain point in main quest

Hi. So I finally started doing the Skyrim main quest a few days ago after doing loads of other questlines (College of Winterhold, Thieve's Guild, Dawnguard, Dragonborn). I'm currently lvl 53. Never had any problems of this sort before, and never any game-breaking problems with mods either. The problem I'm having is a crash to desktop after I reach a certain point in the quest Season Unending. I have talked to Arngeir and General Tullius, but after I talk to Ulfric Stormcloak and the quest updates with "Talk to Arngeir" again, it crashes without warning and without exception. Sometimes it crashes instantly, sometimes it takes a couple of seconds, but I can't advance past this in any way (read: tried console commands too). I installed some new mods recently but they seem not to be the culprit as I tried talking to Ulfric with them unactivated. Also tried lowering the graphic settings, doing TES5Edit clean-up, going back to a earlier save and starting the quest from scratch, etc. Nothing has worked so far and I'm slowly losing my patience. I can do other things and quest just ok, it's just this particular point in this particular quest that causes the sure CTD.

 

Any idea what might cause something like this and where to start looking for solution? I'm getting out of ideas.

It sounds like a script error.

Can you post your BOSS log?

Also any mods you uninstalled recently?

I deleted GreenWaterFixForWATER (striked-through part) after updating it so I've no idea why it still shows, but everything should be pretty much up-to-date.

Recently I've mostly uninstalled mod to be updated, but I did get rid of Isilmeriel LOTR Weapons, Lantar Dale and Amber Guard because I didn't need them anymore, but that was only after I noticed the CTD problem. Biggest changes I've done recently had to to with updating RLO and installing Climates of Tamriel to go with it. Nothing else that I can think of...

Well, crap. I was hoping something would stick out.

The only things I see that I could imagine might be related (but I am grasping at straws) is the Paarthurnax mod and/or Achieve this.

 

Other than that, I wonder if you have a corruption in your savefile, maybe from some time back? It seems the way to test this would be to go back a save from before you got that quest (before talking to Arngeir), or maybe even trying to sidestep that quest, by going back before you talk to Arngeir and then completeing the Civil War questline.

Tried the game without Paarthurnax mod and Achieve This - I almost got to ran back to the palace door this time before the game once again crashed, but I doubt it's related. So nope, not either of those. But thank you for your suggestions!

 

And yeah, probably the next thing I'm going to try is to go back in saves but I also tend to overwrite the older ones a lot to save space so /fingers crossed/ hopefully I still have a save that isn't either dreadfully far back or just... nonexistant and thus unhelpful. Haven't done the Civil War quests at all yet either so that's an option too as you said, at least to get to do something. Would be shame if this damn thing didn't work afterwards even then though. :( So. If anyone has suggestions or help it'd be great and really appreciated!

I'm having the same exact problem. CTD when the main quest updates "Talk to Arngeir." I'm comparing your mods to mine to identify what is causing the issue. Stay tuned.

My crash was being caused by Companion Valfar. I don't see that on your list. :( Sorry, thought maybe we had the same crash.

This has also been happening to me for this quest and it's always for when I have to return and speak to Arngeir after speaking to ulfric and tulius. Doesn't matter which order i talk to them in either, still crashes after I've spoken to the second. I've been wandering if it has something to do with the paarthunax dilemma mod as I have that installed as well. I may attempt to bypass this quest if all else fails by completing the civil war quest line
