However Excel processor located at Dragon Age\tools\ResourceBuild\ExcelProcessor is not working. The command window tries to come up but shutdowns quickly. I'm wondering if this is because The SQL server the tool downloads is for a 32 bit machine. I'm windows 10 64 bit machine. Has anyone found directions to get the correct SQL server for windows 10 64 bit that will work with dragon age tool? Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Pasquale1223 Posted December 27, 2020 Share Posted December 27, 2020 Having 2 threads with the same questions probably isn't going to be helpful. You might want to delete the other one. I have successfully installed the toolset in Windows 10, and it works fine. The original SQL database that installs with the toolset worked for quite awhile, too, but... then it didn't, and I suspect it may have been a Windows update. I followed the instructions posted here and was able to install a different SQL Server. I used the 32 bit fix files, as the 64 bit fix files did not get things going for me even though I'm on a 64 bit system. The toolset wiki also offers information and help with troubleshooting problems. The ExcelProcessor is also working for me, but I'm using Microsoft Excel 2002. I just drag the source .xls file onto the ExcelProcessor executable - a window pops up and finishes really quickly, leaving the generated GDA file. The Sql link for SQL windows 10 stated https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/404Error.aspx: "We're sorry, this download is no longer available". I can use GDApp and I will try that. I was able to download the dragon age tool and SQL 2005 shows up on my control panel. However the functionality of taking the excel and converting it to gda doesn't work using the Excel processor. I'm concern that some functionality is loss trying to get it to work with the windows 10. Microsoft does flash a message stating they don't want to support 2005 because of security issues. Pasquale1223 Posted December 27, 2020 Share Posted December 27, 2020 Well - if you're wanting to use the toolset to do something other than database manipulation, you'll need to get it to work with your SQL installation. But it doesn't sound like you actually need it for anything at this point, since you're working on a database. I haven't had any issues using either GDApp or the ExcelProcessor. As I mentioned earlier, I just open File Manager and drag the xls source file onto the ExcelProcessor executable, and the GDA is generated. I put them all (the xls source file and the ExcelProcessor executable) in a directory where I'm doing my GDA development work so I don't lose track of the output - it all stays right there in the directory I'm working in.
