How to create a personal companion from a custom 3D model?

Hello, friends! Sorry for my English. I'm from Russia:D

I have a 3d model of the character, i want to make her a companion. As I understand it, need to export from 3ds max to nif. And then? How do I create a companion? On the Internet, I found lessons only on AI. Nothing is said about custom 3d models.

I'm sorry again for my English.

You are talking also about making working face? I think if you ask such questions you better dont make such hard things now. Because untill proper result making proper follower from custom model with custom working face may take up to 1 year if you dont have much experince in it.

I recommend first start creating just first follower based on existing game race (human). There are a lot of examples of it on downloads. Later when you will make this PM me and I will show how tou make model and face

Making a custom NPC with a custom 3d model is LOTS OF WORK.

You would have to do things like UV mapping and texturing for the 3D model (not that hard), somehow "map" the 3d model to the existing "human skeleton" that Fallout 4 uses for all the animation stuff (very difficult / poorly documented).

If you really want to learn how to do this, start by getting simple static objects from 3DSMAX into Fallout 4.

Then try simple animated objects, like doors.

And so on ....

After lots of time and practice, you might be able to do what you want to do.

(Can take from a few weeks if you really learn quick to a few years).

Is it a full custom 3d model or is just the face "custom"?

Lots of things can be done with character customization mods in FO4, so maybe check some of those out!

(You can then save that created character as a preset and there is a way to make a companion from a "player character preset")

Thanks for your answer, my friend!
3D model has a closed face. that is, he has a mask with a closed face, you do not need to make a working face. Are you talking about facial animation?

I worked so hard on the model. A good soldier turned out:c

Okay, first I'll practice on standard companions

Okay, that makes thing much easier.

This model is rigged? I mean you can move parts of it by bones in some 3d program?
