GamerChas
I bought the Fallout new Vegas complete pack when it was on sale back in December. I just installed it. In the main menu, like in FO3, there are check marks for which DLC's to add. I have none of them checked except the main game. But when I start, all the DLC's are activated - the expansion packs and the additional items packs. Is there any way to just get the vanilla FNV game? I want to see what it is like first without any extras.
laclongquan
Chap. The DLC and packs are precisely as designed, so dont rob yourself your 1st time with Vanilla FNV. Let me tell you that plain FNV is not as good. fewer weapons, fewer mods, less utility... If you feel the game might be too easy, turn on HardCore and keep it on. Turn diff to Hard, or Veryhard if you breeze through Goodspring. EDIT: scratch that. You MUST keep hardcore mode on. I cant imagine playing without it (ie challengeless) ,as the game is easy enough. GamerChas
I found out how to keep the DLC's from always auto loading. No matter what is checked in the data files menu. In the data directory, each DLC has a .esm and a .bsa file as is normal. But they also have a .NAM file. Deleting these .NAM files keeps them from always loading. Now the data files menu works. I just like the idea of experiencing the game as it was first released before any expansions. Kinda like if I had bought it when it was first released before anything else was available. Then I will add the expansion packs. I always replay a couple of times anyway. I do not think I will ever add the extra weapons packs. Starting with that much stuff is too overpowering. laclongquan
Possibly. But if you are playing the game for the 1st time, it's not that overpowering since you dont know enough to use them all to its full potential. They are the helps that a 1st time player can use to pass the initial hurdle. I know that for a fact, since I played it for the 1st run too. Clocking 200 hours but still not pass the middle game, ie choosing a side to support. If you really must, just sell the stuff for caps. Your barter is low so you dont get much from them. And the fistful of caps you get will be blown after the 1st shopping spree in Goodspring or Primm.
