Kmikaz3
So i got some real trouble to make a gif avatar to play on Skyrim mod member profile and comment section. But it seems to only play on my Nexus Forum profile page and the Forum comment section llke you see now. After cleaning my caches, it doesn't provide much help either. Any thought? DrakeTheDragon
I don't know the technical background of the forum or site software, but it seems depending on size and type of avatar there are different ones. For example right now I see a big version of your avatar at the side of your post, which is very well moving, while on the top of the thread I see a smaller version of it, with "_thumb" in the url, which is 'not' moving. I guess whatever system did the resize and conversion also eliminated the animation. My guess is the avatar displaying on the 'site' profile pages is a resized version again, which again got animation properties stripped, just like the "_thumb" one above the thread. Ironman5000
Yes it looks like part of the update to better optimize mod pages, and with skyrim nexus being as busy as it is I could understand why.
Kmikaz3
Aww that's a bit of a let down. But I'd noticed some users got their gif avatar to work on both site. My gif is about 56kb. Do you think the size matter on whether the gif play or not?
DrakeTheDragon
It could also be depending on 'when' the avatars got uploaded. It could've been the 'recent' forum and site software update introducing a different resizing algorithm, or it could've been that way for quite some longer time already. If there are avatars the same size as your inanimate ones but animating fine, I'd wager a guess they got resized and stored at a time the resize algorithm retained animating GIFs properties, whereas now it doesn't anymore. If the 'big' ones still animate but the 'smaller' ones ("_thumb") not, I'm pretty confident that 'size' is not the issue here.
