To date it is not illegal to buy/sell used games. In fact I would think that buying and selling used games causes more NEW games to be purchased. You could do the same thing with books and I know I always went and bought new books from an author I enjoyed from a used book. We all also know how well these kinds of things actually help stop pirates....*rolls eyes* In Europe many gaming companies have gotten lawsuits against them for trying even to stop a persons ability to sell DIGITAL games. And guess what....they have not gone the game makers way. edit: You kinda ninja-ed me there a bit Tom...lol

Piracy isn't even a solid excuse to DRM anything. Why? Because DRM is ineffective. If I wanted I could go and grab any pirated copy I want right now. WHERE IS YOUR DRM NOW?

We also have to think about this in another way... games do not release demos like they used to. Some people do actually "try before I buy" by using pirated copies. It is possible it does boost revenues. Though I have read elsewhere that most people do not practice this. That theory aside... with no demos most people don't want to drop the $60 on a game they simply won't like. So for those who did not purchase the game they still might have not bought the game otherwise and therefore the company would not have seen a profit matching the amount of pirated copies made.

DRM is only punishing those who pay for games. Why does this crap exist?
